Welcome to the Swink Family DNA Project

SURNAMES FOR THIS PROJECT INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Swink, Schwenk, Schwenck, Schwink, Schwincki, Swank, Swenk, Schenck, Schenk, and other similar spellings. If your surname is one of these, or a variation thereof, please contact us. We are seeking participants from all parts of the world with particular emphasis on the USA and Germany. (See the Patriarch Page)

Surname DNA testing is the newest tool available to genealogists. These tests help genealogists verify their paternal ancestry (father's father) in a quick and easy manner. It saves time, prevents mistakes, and provides invaluable data that can’t be obtained in any other way.

MATCHING LEVELS:

  1. We would like all our male volunteers to be Y-DNA tested at the 37, 67 or 111 marker tests. A 12 or 25 marker test will simply not give us enough information to see if there might be a match to one of our ancestral lines or help me establish another line.

I am not interested in the mtDNA and mtDNA-plus (Mother’s Mother line) matches unless you can identify a specific shared maternal line ancestor.

THIS FAMILY PROJECT HAS BEEN STARTED TO:

1. Help researchers of common or related families work together to find their common heritage.

2. Identify the DNA of the ancestor families and compile them and their lost branches into distinct genetic lineages through DNA matches.

3. To verify the paper trail that many researchers have dating back to the 1700's and beyond.

Pedigree Charts

  1. To Join the project by ordering a DNA test or by not ordering a DNA test, please submit your pedigree to Mary Harmon at harm8308@bellsouth.net. Please only submit ancestors that have been verified through research. I will post your pedigree to our patriarch page unless I have questions. Thank you for your interest in the SWINK family & its many variations of spelling, and in DNA testing.
