Dear Paul,

Thanks to my friend Giuseppe Belgieri I have known your interesting spreadsheet. Actually the Italian 46835 (Mangino), put amongst the R1b1a2* in the “ht35 project”, is an R1b1*. I wrote to Vincent Vizachero, and he agreed with me and put him amongst the R1b1*, but he didn’t take away him from the "ht35 project”. Then who would seem at the origin of this haplogroup belongs to the ancestors.
Anyway I think having demonstrated that the most ancient R1b1a2* is the Italian cluster with YCAII=17-23, being 18-23 the modal and not the supposed 19-23. The R1b1* of Middle East, who get 23-23 or similar are due to a RecLOH and aren’t the ancestors of the subclades, born, I think, in Italy or nearby.

With the best wishes, Gioiello Tognoni
