We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for this Surname.   Our Surname Project is primarily interested in your Paternal line, as surnames are passed down from father to son, just as the yDNA is passed down.

If you ARE A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, send your pedigree by email to at  The pedigree will then be posted on the Surname Project's Patriarchs Page by or sent to the Project’s Administrator.

Please include the following:
•       Name of project
•       Kit Number
•       Name of person posting pedigree
•       Email address to be posted with pedigree
•       Name, birthdate, birthplace, spouse of Earliest Known Ancestor
•       List each succeeding generation, using only those four items of information (or substitute another item of information if missing an item)

(If you have more information you would like to share, you may also post a more extended version of your family pedigree on the project website’s Pedigree Forum below)

If you are NOT A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, you are welcome to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum below.  We hope an interested researcher will see it and contact you to share information.

We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for the LaPose Family Project Patriarch page.  (You don’t have to be a test participant to post your family pedigree.) We encourage everyone who tests to also post his pedigree, even if you don't have very much information,so that participants can compare pedigrees as well as test results.  Some interested researcher may see it and contact you.

You must be logged in to post on the forum.

By posting your pedigree on the forum, you are making it available for the Project Administrator to
1. Post it on the project's Patriarch Page, where he/she will arrange the pedigrees chronologically, linking families whenever possible.
2. Post your contact information if you choose to make it available (with the @ changed to AT to discourage spammers.
3. Post your Code Identity Number for the Project (if you have been tested) with your pedigree on the Patriarch Page, to facilitate correlating test results and pedigrees . (Please post it with your pedigree to make sure your Project Administrator is able to include it in the posting.)
4. Link your pedigree on the Patriarch Page back to your complete posting on the Pedigree Forum.

Suggestions for Posting your Pedigree:
We use a "stripped-down" version of the pedigree for surname yDNA projects, as the interest is in finding the direct line of males back to the earliest known ancestor for each project participant.  Generally, four pieces of information are sufficient to recognize an ancestor (his name, birth date, birth place and wife’s name).
Please :
1. Do Post four pieces of information for each ancestor: Name, birth date, birth place, spouse.  [Missing any of the above? Add other identifying information.]
2. Do Begin with the earliest generation
3. Do Use standard abbreviations (m=married, b=birth date, d=death date, c1930=   circa (around) 1930, Co = County, VA =  Virginia [GA for Georgia, CA for California, etc.])
4. Do Keep to one line per generation.
5. Do Include only generations that have this family surname
6. Do Provide your name and email address (you may have done this when you registered to post)
7. Do Provide your code identity if you have one for the project. 8. Do Be consistent.  Either use the surname for each generation of your pedigree, or omit it for all.

1. Do Not Put the surname first
2. Do Not Use all caps for the surname
3. Do Not List anyone whose birthdate is after 1910 (for privacy concerns)
4. Do Not Use numbers for the generations
5. Do Not Try to "format" your posting, as that only makes it more difficult for the Project Administrator to paste it onto the Patriarch Page.

You can choose to post your pedigree in one of two forms
for the Pedigree Forum, EITHER:
1. The PERSONAL ANCESTRY pedigree shows only the male who is your direct ancestor in each generation (no siblings are shown)
Example of a Personal Ancestry pedigree as it would be posted on the Pedigree Forum:
