My name is George A Howe, my father George N Howe b. about 1896, was supposedly adopted  in 1899, by Walter and Alvena (Philbrick) Howe. There are no records to be found of the adoption, supposed birth County and City records offices were both burned in the early 1900's There are no records of an adoption in the Howe residence county or city. we have been searching since 1956. There are no  HOWE males left.
There is one thing that makes me question the adoption...we have a photo of Walter taken in 1930's (about 75 yrs old) and one of myself taken recently (70 + years) and we look very much alike.  Will the DNA tell us if I am related to Walter thru my father?

I don't have that answer - I'm interested to know.
Something to consider - often a spouse would die and the surviving spouse would remarry fairly soon.  The children needed to be cared for.  It's possible that Walter is the father, but the mother was a stepmother?  Good luck.
