I am getting the mitochondria test done on myself..female. I do not know who my biological father was. AM I at a dead end wiht this? I do have a son. No brothers, cousins, uncles, etc because I don't know who he was.
I hope someone will answer me.

Hi Stephanie.  It sounds like you are at a dead end on this.  Your mtDNA test will give you info on your mother's mother's ... mother's maternal line.  It will provide you nothing on your father's paternal line.

Your son will carry his father's yDNA - which is completely independent of your father's yDNA.

Unless you can identify your father in some traditional way, yDNA testing is not an option for you.
