I am confused.  Is FTDNA connected with Family Tree Maker?  Will results from FTDNA be compatible with the testing just announced by Ancestry.com?

As far as I know, Ancestry.com does not sponsor or report the results of DNA tests. FtDNA.com has nothing to do with Familytreemaker; it is one of several firms that do test DNA. Do you want to have your DNA tested?

Testing with FTDNA provides much more value than testing with ancestry, genebase, or any of the other folks who sell tests - but do essentially nothing else.  Surname projects typically operate from FTDNA - so that is where the comparisons are - where your matches will be - where the expertise is - and where you'll find much more testing company resources and tools for you as an individual
