On the results page, we are listed as T1a. What, specifically, is subgroup T1a, and how is the subgroup determined?

Hi Catherine.  I took the T1a description from David Pike's excellent article in the Spring 2006 issue of the Journal of Genetic Genealogy about our mtDNA Haplogroup T.  Here's the direct link to the paper:
