Haplogroup V

Anyone out there know what this means other than the fact that about 12-15 thousand years ago my ancestors went to Northern Europe?? ? ?

Thanks, Cindi.

The mtDNA haplogroup V with mutation 16298C is found in Saami and Finnish women. Round the innermost part of Bottenviken (Finland-Sweden) live "northern finns" (name by Raitio et al) where 70% carry mtDNA V and >90% Y-DNA N. This group may be an ethnic group originally or they may be a part of the old Saami people who lived all over Scandinavia a few thousands years ago.
The frequency of V in Saami women is 42%.

The surname I am researching is Revels and I am a V per 23andMe. I plan to do FTDNA's mtDNA test also.I am trying to figure it out and would appreciate any insight anyone  can offer. I would be happy to exchange emails, if that's allowed.  Thanks in advance.
