Barry is apparently a predominantly Irish name. But my Jewish paternal great-grandfather was allegedly a Barry when he entered the US around the end of the 1800s from what we think may have been Austria. No one knows where the Barry name came from, but my grandfather (Samuel Barry) long maintained that it was not changed at Ellis Island, and that it was Barry before the emigration to the US.

This DNA/Pedigree project may not be relevant to me unless there are other Barry's with a Jewish connection ("illegitimate" or otherwise). It would be a revelation to make such a connection.
