I have been a part of the Sephardic forum for many years now and also have had mitoDNA tested-sadly the Montes name comes from my maternal grandmother's name.  I have living Montes distant male cousins outside of the USA, but do not know them well enough to ask them to participate in a DNA test.

However, I am always interested in the origins of this name-my family is from Central America.  My maternal grandmother is Aida Montes.

This is a new type of forum for me so I am just testing the water.  JK(Montes)

Any ideas out there?  I have some other maiden names for a great grandmother and a great grandmother of Aida Montes.
