Hi, all,

I do not have a direct male extended family member that I can ask to submit his Y-DNA for testing, but maybe a distant cousin will read this and want to get on board. I think I've pretty much exhausted all the possible paper avenues for my earliest-known ancestor's parentage.

I am trying to see if my earliest GAMMILL ancestor is related to either 1/  the Thomas Bradley GAMBILL m. Susannah Fisher NASH, b. c 1740, d. 19 Jun 1806, Rutherford Co., TN line -- or the William GAMMILL m. Ann McGAUGHEY, b. 30 Apr 1768, d. 12 Nov 1847, Coles Co., Il line.

Both of these families had a James GAMMILL/GAMBILL/GAMEL/GAMBLE, born about the right time and place. Also, one of the sons of William GAMMILL, Andrew Gammill, m. a Jane WHITIS in Davidson Co, TN in the same area that a James GAMMILL m. a Sally WHITES, same county in 1818.

My earliest-known ancestor's wife was Sarah Unk:

b. 30 Sep 1797, TN
d. 22 Apr 1874, Buck Prairie Twp., Lawrence Co., MO

m. Sarah (*possibly* the Sally WHITES in Davidson Co., TN on 22 Oct 1818)
b. 27 Nov 1799, NC
d. 1 Aug 1885, Buck Prairie Twp. Marionville, Lawrence Co., MO

Elizabeth A. (1819-1897) [could square with an 1818 marriage]
Son or daughter (--1847)
Charles Newton (1824-1894)
Nancy Caroline (1825-1855)
Lucinda J. (1826-1848)
Sarah Evaline (1828-1861)
Talitha A. (1830-1847)
Harriet Meddline (1835-?)
Samuel Harrison (1837-1914)
Joseph J. (1839-1862)

All the children were born in Tennessee, and for the ones I was able to get more data, near Shelbyville, Bedford Co., TN. They moved to Lawrence Co., MO, where they were early pioneer farmers.

Hope this will spark some interest in my line. I come through Charles Newton *Nute* Gammill's line.

From an email sent by Dr. William Hester [dr.william.hester AT]:

My interest in your project is two descent from Taylor/Gascoigne/Gambling or Gambleyn, which happens to be my most maternal line and deadends about 1582 with the unkown Josiah Gambling in Dilham Norfolk England.

The file on this is at .

My index by descent is at

I have completed and trimmed all of my chromosome browser screenshots, which are posted at
