Short pedigree but it is all that I know of my Lyon lineage:
James Lyon born abt 1850 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland married Marion Hamilton Finlay born abt 1852 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.  Family lore says that Marion was a flaming redhead.  This was Marion's second marriage.  Her first husband was  John Kinnaird born abt 1852 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.  They were married on 25 Oct 1872 in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland and they had several children:
James Finlay Kinnaird born 24 Sep 1874 in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland
John Kinnaird born abt 1877 in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Marion Kinnaird born abt 1879 in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland
James Kinnaird born abt 1881 in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland
David Kinnaird born 25 Aug 1882 in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland

  James Lyon and Marion Finlay were married on 14 Oct 1889 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. Scotland.  James was a crane operator.  James and Marion had only one child, Robert Lyon who was born on 3 Mar 1890.  Robert immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1910 and settled in Brooklyn, NYC, NY.  He married Lilly Frances Green on 10 Nov 1915.  Lilly was born on 29 Apr 1895 in Manhattan, NYC, NY  They had two sons, the oldest of which was my father.  Robert was a carpenter by trade but became an electrician for Con Edison in NYC.  He joked that some crazy Irishman tacked an "s" on the end of his name when he came to this country.  In the U.S., the family name became Lyons.  Robert died 15 Oct 1979 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Brooklyn, NYC.  Lilly died on 20 Mar 1973 and is buried with Robert in Evergreen Cemetery.
  I would love to know how my Lyon branch connects to the larger Lyon Tree.  I have been unable to trace the family back further.  My email is
Dolores (nee Lyons) Kingston

My Lyons lineage:
My father Donald Joseph Lyons was born in Seattle, Washington, USA in 1928;
His father, Bruce Adams Lyons was born in San Diego, California, USA in 1901, died in San Francisco, California, USA in 1965;
His father, Daniel Webster Lyons was born in San Diego, California, USA in 1869 and died in San Francisco, California USA in 1920;
His father, George Lyons in Donegal, Ireland in 1823 and died in San Diego, California, USA in 1908. He apparently arrived in New Bedford, Bristol, Massachusetts in about 1940 before heading to San Diego arriving in about 1847;
His father was apparently Alexander Lyons, born in Inver, Donegal, Northern Ireland in 1805 and he died there in 1890. Alexander's wife and George's mother may have been Catherine or Katherine Kilpatrick born in about 1800 in Palsey, Scotland.

My name is Mark Lyons. I am at best a novice at genealogy. However, I have been able to trace my Lyons lineage back to a grandfather (Robert Lyons) born in 1792. Through my research I have discovered that he was born of Scots/Irish heritage in Pennsylvania but was orphaned at a young age. Being an orphan I have no idea who his parents were. I had hoped that somehow through DNA testing I might find an answer by connecting to another Lyons with matching DNA. Anyway, Robert migrated to Kentucky where he married in 1813 and started a family. He then migrated into Indiana about 1823. This is where most of my family have lived and was where I was born. We have a family cemetery that is a final resting spot for about 100 ancestors. I pretty much know of all the other Lyons family members since Robert, but beyond Robert I am at dead end.
