You may have noticed that three kits in the TreeceDNA project match much more closely the Pitman and/or Wall surname than they do the Treece surname.  If you look at the patriarch page, it's currently the kits under Michael Treece b. abt 1755 (or perhaps closer to 1759).  Genetic genealogy may eventually help sort this out.  Since more than one descendant of sons of John Treece, b. 1812 match Pitman/Wall, it proves that the non-paternal event was one of John's ancestors (unless there was more than one NPE).  Since Michael Treece's father has descendants that match a different Y-DNA (see patriarch page and FTDNA project page and/or Y-DNA results), it narrows down the individual to either Michael or George.  My bet is on Michael, but we don't have enough Y-testers of Michael and George's descendants to be certain yet.  Stay tuned, as we may be able to find the right Y-DNA donors.

Other clues come from autosomal DNA results, and it appears that at least one descendant of Michael has an atDNA match with another cousin who has Andreas Volck (father of Catherine) in the family tree.  This would indicate that Michael's mother is a Volck.  This research is ongoing, so these observations and predictions may change as more pieces of evidence are gathered.  If you have any thoughts, by all means contact me or post here.
