Well, now all of my new markers are in and my 111-marker upgrade is complete. I don't have any matches at 111 markers, though.

You and your 390=23 cluster is a great variety which I would try and get one more 111 marker upgrade done to get a good age and Tree work up. Maybe the Wales guy.

My closest match at 67 markers is a GD of 13.

When you think about it though it shouldn't be too surprising.

Only a very small percentage of the current R1b population in the world has taken dna tests.  A wag would be .1% and that may be optimistic.

Maybe you and I come from a long line of only sons, or male siblings that rarely had male offspring.  Our paternal decendant trees may look more like a pole.

My first and only 67 GD9 match was around a long time until my GD3 was found not via a match but on my FtDNA  Y-DNA - Ancestral Origins page. Only when I had FtDNA email this person was I able to get a project name and review it. Then many other off-modal searches in many other projects I have a great set of haptoypes. One of my 2nd closest GD6 was off my radar until he upgraded to 67 markers. I now have three good matches at 111 with my first match just at GD13. The important fact is that we all have cross matches to others I have Hts I have discovered. I have 19 Hts at 67 markers giving me a great deeper ancestry look, along with about 20 more with lessor markers.

Find your off=modals and look for matches everywhere.

Amen!

Here is a nice write up describing what it means to look for your off-modal or signature markers.

I tried to start a thread about that, last summer -- nobody replied so it's not a thread, but at least it's a relevant post.  For one thing, it's about off-modals; but toward the end I also alluded to the fact that upgrading from 67 to 111 markers gave me a lot more new off-modals than upgrading from 37 to 67 had.

Self, kit 53479, is in my cluster and has 111 markers. I haven't counted up our genetic distance from one another.

Self and I share the following off-modal markers among the newly-acquired markers when compared with the R-DF41 and Subclades Project DF41 Modal:

495=16 (Modal=17)

522=11 (Modal=12)

452=31 (Modal=29)

Y-Gata-A10=13 (Modal=12)

525=11 (Modal=10)

715=23 (Modal=24)

504=17 (Modal=16)

Well, consider yourself lucky. I got a message that said that all my 111 marker panel results are delayed until March 11. And I thought that we were in the same batch...

Maybe we should encourage her to raise the bar to 111 suggestions for just for the reason razyn mentioned.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe you should contact them and ask if they need a new sample from you, just in case they do. Sometimes they struggle with what they have and then end up having to ask for a new sample, which only increases the delay.
