A new series of the genealogy show 'Who Do You Think You Are?' starts on BBC 1 tonight in the UK. I think a great developement would be to include a Y-DNA test for the participants.
Also, it'd be fascinating to test some of the previous series' participants, particularly those with pedigrees that allegedly link to royalty. Matthew Pinsent was shown in one show with a tree linking back to several kings - inc William the Conqueror.
I suppose the drawback for people is the danger of an obvious NPE showing up, thus shattering some illusions. However, I'd hope people would seek the truth & not be content to live a lie.
Finally, shows that run to more than three or four series tend to get stale, so the fillip of Y-DNA would help keep things fresh & encourage others to join. Anyone got an in at the Beeb?
