Hi:

I am new to this forum.  I am trying to find my father's other children who are now in their 70's.  His name was Wayne Dunbar and he was born in 1897 in Illinois.  He moved to California, probably in the 1930's and went on to be a plumbing inspector for the City of Los Angeles.  He died in 1960.  He had three, possibly four daughters besides me: Angeline, Viola, Elizabeth and possibly one other.  His mother's name was Lulu Cordelia Lovelady and his father was John Gilmore Dunbar.  He had brothers Gilmore, Carl DeWitt and Merion Lyle Dunbar.  If you know anything about this branch of the Dunbar family, please get in touch.

hi Wdunbar

Your pedigree is posted.  Hope you find the family members you are looking for.  I researched your tree on ancestry to get some birth years for some more details.  Consider taking part in the DNA project.  In the 1930 census, your father is listed with his wife Nellie B. and three daughters: Elizabeth, Cornelia, and Evangeline.

Hi, my husbands father was Sean Dunbar, born Dublin in about 1921.  His mother died when he was 6 weeks old and he was brought up by neighbours.  His brother and father moved away. Any info welcome.

Post by: Dunbar Administrator on May 29, 2006, 09:02:38 AM
Hi Marie, Thank you for your post and interest in the Dunbar DNA project.?

I did a quick search of the 1920 Indiana Census, using the Dunbar surname, hoping to find the father, mother, or brother you mentioned.? Was it Dublin, Indiana  or Dublin Ireland where Sean was born?? I couldn?t tell from my map if Dublin, IN was in Wayne or Henry County, so I checked them both for possibilities but didn?t see anything that might match.? The site I use only has a partially completed 1930 US Census and doesn?t list Sean yet.? Do you know the name of the neighbors that raised him?? Or, do you know the first name of Sean?s father/mother?? Is it listed on his birth/death certificate?

Using Y-DNA for genealogical purposes is designed to help prevent a beginning researcher from wasting time chasing a dead end or for those advanced researchers who cannot get around a ?brick wall?.? Already, the men of Lineages I & II have found they share a common ancestor.? Until this project, only D-4 & D-5 knew they shared a recent ancestor.? It was a surprise for the others tested and now we can stop wondering if our ancestors descend from the other pedigrees.? I have spent a lot of money over the years chasing leads, but this has been the best investment I?ve made so far.? My Dad is D-1.? I hope your husband will join our project.? Sincerely, Debra

Debra Dunbar Nowell,
Dunbar Surname DNA Admin. & Clan Dunbar Project Admin.

Having someone from your family test would be very instructive to our project since they are from Glasgow.? We would like to acquire DNA from as many different locations in Scotland/England/Ireland as possible.? I hope you'll be able to participate via your father, brother, nephew or male cousin.? Is Isabella Fletcher the mother of Hugh or was Margaret Leckie??

Donald, Thank you for your interest in our Dunbar DNA Project. Your pedigree has been posted to the Dunbar Patriarchs page.  Please be sure to check and make sure the information posted is correct.  http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/d/dunbar/pats.html

As you may already be aware, we have two Project Participants that descend from Peter Dunbar, b. 1668.  Each one descends from a different son; James & Samuel.  Your line descends from Peter?s son Elisha Dunbar.  It would be very instructive to our Project to find a living male Dunbar descendant from Elisha since that line goes back to the 1700?s.  We?d be able to see, if and, how the DNA has mutated between the different sons.

It would be great if you?d be able to participant via that person.  Thank you again.

Hi Betty, Your pedigree has been posted.? Please check to make sure I have everything correct.? Having someone from your family test would be very instructive to our project since they are from Glasgow.? We would like to acquire DNA from as many different locations in Scotland/England/Ireland as possible.? I hope you'll be able to participate via your father, brother, nephew or male cousin.? Is Isabella Fletcher the mother of Hugh or was Margaret Leckie??

http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/d/dunbar/pats.html

Thank you, Debra

Thanks so much Debra! I am going to ask my brother to participate in the project. Margaret Leckie is the mother of Hugh. There were only 2 children form that marriage and actually it happened later in life for Hugh the father. I have been unable to locate children for Hugh and Isabella. I know they must be there somewhere as Isabella was 50 when she passed away and Hugh married Margaret 6 months later.

Thank you

Betty

Hi Billy,  Your pedigree has been posted to the Patriarchs page.  You'll find it listed under "Unassigned Results".  It will remain there until your Results come back from the lab.  If your markers match another person in the Dunbar Project, your pedigree will be moved into the appropriate Lineage.  Due to limited space on the Patriarchs page, I can only post 4/5 lines of a pedigree.  Your complete pedigree will be posted to the Pedigree Center once your markers come in.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your pedigree and especially for joining the Dunbar Y-DNA Project.  Your pedigree has been posted and you can find it near the bottom of the Patriarchs page listed under "Not Tested".  Once your kit is returned to FTDNA, your pedigree will be moved up to the "Unassigned Results" with other participants awaiting their Results or a match.  Also, you'll be given a Project Number at that time.  When your markers come back from the lab, and should they match one of our established Lineages, your pedigree will then be moved into that Lineage.

Unfortunately, there is limited space on the Patriarchs page and only a few lines of your pedigree will show up.  Once your results are back, I'll then put your complete pedigree into the Pedigree Center on the Dunbar DNA website.  If you have any questions, please be sure to write.

Looking for missing family details and / or long-lost relatives. For eg., Wm Henry had a brother, Alexander, who went to Colorado, married and had two children prior to untimely death ( in mine accident ?) No subsequent contact. Also five sisters - Margaret, Jessie, Catherine Ann, Elizabeth Jane and Bessie. Not sure if / who they married or resulting families.

Brian,
I have a large family tree for this line. The progenitor may have been COOK rather than DUNBAR and a present-day member of this line would be a good candidate for DNA testing.
Please contact me directly at [dunbar@one-name.org] and send all the DUNBAR information you have. I will then recheck my database and forward anything of interest and will also put you in touch with others researching the line.
Please bear in mind that I will be away for Christmass, so there may be some delay before I get back to you.
Kind regards and seasons greetings!

My Name is Curtis Robert Dunbar

I am from the Dunbar's that lived in Belchertown MA from apx. 1794. Before that time they were from Bridgewater and Hingham MA. I am directly related to Robert Dunbar who was born in Scotland in 1630. He and his wife Rose, moved to Hingham apx. 1655. I also believe that I am a direct descendent of Gospatric, The Earl of Northumberland. My father, Robert Dale Dunbar has a very old book that traces the Dunbar's back to Scotland. My e-mail address is whately47@hotmail.com Any information would be appreciated. I would love to know for sure if I am indeed directly related to the Earl of Northumberland.

OK, let me try this again.

Hi Curtis,

According to the Y-DNA results, the Robert of Hingham line matches the direct line descendant of Gospatric.  Where the connection between Robert of Hingham and the Gospatric line has not yet been established with paper documention.  It is our hope, that as this Project continues to grow, we'll be able to find where on the House of Dunbar Pedigree chart your family descends from.

We would like to add your DNA to the Project.  Until Dec. 31, 2007, FTDNA is offering $15.00 off a 25 marker kit and $30.00 off a 37 or 67 marker kit.  With this line going back to Gospatric, we are asking all those men to test at the 67 marker level.  As you can see from the Results page link below, it wasn't until the last set of 67 markers that distinguished the descendants of Peter, son of Robert, (a 16 at marker DYS#534) from Robert's other son Joshua.  Will your DNA reveal any other distinguishing characteristics?  Plus, we'd like to add your pedigree with the other Robert of Hingham descendants database.  Your pedigree can be posted on the Forum page or sent directly to me via my email address below.

http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/d/dunbar/results.html (http://worldfamilies.net/surnames/d/dunbar/results.html)

To take advantage of the Christmas offer, special ordering is required and I'll be glad to help you with that.  Please contact me at dunbardna@gmail.com.   Sincerely, Debra Dunbar Nowell, Dunbar Surname DNA Project Administrator.

I am hoping that this Samuel is one of the sons of James Dunbar, an early settler of Washington COunty.
Records state James and his parents emmigrated from Scotland mid 1700's, he became a blacksmith and served in the War of 1812.
But in these records, it states that Martha, wife of Samuel had another surname of Oaks. Perhaps she was the first wife...
In any case, Samuel and Martha is where my research found a dead end...pardon the pun...
thank you for any hints.

Hi Naomi,

If you have paper proof that Lucius Dunbar b. 1827 MA is the son of John Mason Dunbar then you will need to find a copy of "The Descendants of Robert Dunbar of Hingham, MA" by Ann Theopold Chaplin 1992.  This book is out of print and can be found in many Genealogical libraries or Societies.  The reason I'm asking for paper proof for Lucius is that this book only lists 3 children of John Mason Dunbar. 1. Andrew Williams Dunbar 2. John Mason Dunbar 3. Susan Loring Dunbar.  That doesn't mean he didn't have more but, these are the only three that are listed.

This line goes thus:
1. Robert Dunbar, b. c1630 Scotland, m. Rose (we don't know if this is her first or last name), d. 19 Sep 1693 Hingham, MA
   2. Joseph Dunbar, b. 13 Mar 1661/2, Hingham MA, m. Christian Garnet, d. 7 May 1725, Hingham MA
      3.  Samuel Dunbar, b. c1710, Hingham, MA, m. Martha Groce, d. (death date not listed)
         4.  Daniel Dunbar, b. 1752, Hingham, MA, m. Phillipa Damon, d. 15 Sep 1825 (Rev. War Pension)
            5. John Mason Dunbar, b. 17 May 1795, Hingham, MA, m. Susan Loring, d. 11 Nov 1856
                6. Andrew Williams Dunbar b. 3 Jun 1823
                6. John Mason Dunbar, b. 1 Dec 1826
                6. Susan Loring Dunbar, b. 22 Mar 1830
                All born Hingham MA.

We have 2 of Robert's son's represented in our DNA Project: Peter & Josiah.  It would be great if we could get Joseph represented in our Project.

Title: Pedigree
Post by: Debra Dunbar Nowell on November 06, 2008, 11:28:30 AM
Hi Angela,

Thank you for your pedigree.  It has been posted to our Patriarchs page under "R1b1 Haplogroup - Unassigned"  http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/dunbar/pats (http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/dunbar/pats)

Historical records show that Greenlaw is an affiliated surname of Dunbar.  It was our hope that your father's DNA would prove your line of Greenlaw's as descendants of Dunbar.

Your father's marker results show that he doesn't share genetic DNA with any Dunbar in our Project so far.  When comparing results, the more numbers that match - the better chance of having a common ancestor.  The more markers tested, the more precise we can be in finding a common ancestor.  FTDNA has a maximum genetic distance requirements which tell us whether a person is genetically related.

12 markers - 0-1
25 markers - 0-2
37 markers - 0-4
67 markers - 0-7

Your father's closest match at 12 markers is 21/25.  A genetic distance of 4 well over the Genetic distance allowed by FTDNA.  Once all your markers return, we'll have a better understanding on just how close/far your father's DNA is to Dunbar.

Something that can help is to change your "User Preferences" to view your matches with the entire FTDNA database.  It's defaulted to only show those people you match within the Dunbar Surname Project.  If you change your preferences, we'll be able to see if you match with someone outside of the Dunbar Project.

If you have any questions, please be sure to write.  Debra

Thanks for your pedigree.  I'll post it to the Patriarchs page once your first 25 markers come back from the lab.

There are two other men in our Project who descend from James b. 1730 Antrim, Ire.  D-98 and D-80.  D-98 also descends from George Robinson Dunbar b. 1783 via his son William Patrick Dunbar b. 1813.  D-80 descends from James' son Robert b. 1776.

Thank you again for joining our DNA Project.  It'll be interesting to see if your particular branch of this Dunbar family is an exact match or has acquired a new branching mutation.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your family pedigree.  I have assigned you Project #S-47 and posted your information to the Patriarchs page.  You'll find your family info in the "Not Tested" section of the page and included with the others who descend from Robert Dunbar of Hingham, MA who are following the Project.

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/dunbar/pats

There is an interesting pattern developing in our Hingham Dunbar results.  All the descendants of Robert's son Peter carry a unique mutation of 16 @ DYS534.  And, all the descendants of Peter's son James have a unique mutation of 18 @ DYS557.  D-83 & D119 both descend from Raul but only D119 has a new mutation which had to start with Raul's son William or further below.  You can see these mutations at the following link:
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/dunbar/results
They'll be in the very first section titled Lineage 1.  I have all the Hingham descendants grouped together with the "Earliest Known Ancestor" colored in green.

With your family line also descending from Raul's son William, should you decide to test, we would learn where this new mutation occurred within this branch of Dunbar.  Also, I can offer you a $30.00 refund off the purchase price of the 37 or 67 marker test kit.  Once tested and your DNA confirmed, you'll receive a new Project number and your pedigree will be moved into the Lineage 1 pedigrees.

The majority of the men in Lineage 1 have tested out to 67 markers.  With this Lineage dating back to c975 we need as many markers as possible tested.  As you can see from the Results page, many of the mutations occur in the last set of markers which distinguish the branching w/i family's.

I hope you'll consider joining this very exciting Project.  If you have any questions, please be sure to write.

Sincerely, Debra

My name is Peter Scott Dunbar and I am a Descendant of Robert Dunbar of Hingham, Massachusetts. Here is my pedigree:

Hi,

A pleasure to find this board, and hopefully I can fill in some blanks on my genealogy.

My father:

John Douglas Hesson (Munk) adopted last name Hesson.
b 27 April 1930 in Columbus, Ohio.
5 marriages and 8 children; Janet 1954, Dawna 1956, John Harlan 1958, Heather 1968, Barrett 1969, Kimberly 1971, Gabriel 1976, and Galen 1985.
d 18 Oct 1997 in Drumright, Creek, Oklahoma, USA

His Dunbar lineage comes from his mother and grandmother...so unsure if this line would be helpful for the DNA registry or not. Additionally, I have McAlpin from my maternal line, so it might confuse/blend.

My paternal grandmother:
Dorothy Janet Card
b 30 Sep 1906 in Ohio, United States
m 20 July 1927 to Lewis George Munk (Magyar)
d 4 Feb 1986 in Ohio, USA
1 marriage, 4 children: Baraba Jean unk DOB-2005, Gordon Dunbar Munk 1928-2006, Lewis George Munk Jr 1928-presumed dead pre-1950, John Douglas (above).

P g-grandmother:
Jane Purdie Dunbar
b Dec 1881 in Rothesay, Bute, , Scotland
m pre-1887 to Fred C. Card.
d circa 1966
Only known child is Dorothy Janet Card (above).

P. g-g-grandfather:
John Douglas Dunbar
b 1851 in Edinkellie, Elginshire, Scotland
m 1881 to Minnie Spencer White
d circa 1926.
Lived at 611 High Street, Canton, OH for approximately 1885 until death. Immigrated from Forres, Moray, Scotland.
1 marriage, 6 children include: Jane Purdie Dunbar (above), Minnie Eliza 1885-1982, John Douglas 1887-1903, Ester Lauderdale 1889-unk DOB, Gorden Montgomery 1892-1977, Zebulon Davis 1896-1932.

P. g-g-g-grandfather:
John Douglas Dunbar
b 5 Feb 1829 in Cromdale, Morayshire
m 7 Dec 1848 to Isabella Grey or Gray
d unk
lived in Dallas and Forres, Moray, Scotland. I do not see any information concerning immigration to the US.
1 marriage, 5 known children: Janet 1850, John Douglas (above), Mary Anne 1857, Isabella 1863, Elspet (female) 1865.

I cannot locate further information on John Douglas Dunbar b 1829. I believe Isabella Grey's mother to have been an Isabella who remarried a McGregor, nee name unknown.

I do have two adult sons that I can request to contribute. Again, however, I have McAlpin on my maternal line and both sons are also Campbell and Stewart at the minimum from their father.

Regards,
Kimberly

Hi Jason,

It's nice to meet you.  Usually, I get notified when there's a new post but this didn't come through.

The contact for your Joseph Ephraim Dunbar is:
Lynn G. Dunbar Hart [ghart67 AT hotmail.com]
She may have additional information for you.

I hope you're still interested in testing.  The last time you and D-129 shared an ancestor was over 200 years ago.  This line needs to be verified via another descendant.  We offer $30.00 Rebates/Sponsorships to all participants who order a 37 marker or more test kit.  You've already provided your ancestry.  A check will be sent by Clan Dunbar upon return of the completed test kit to FTDNA.

To order:  http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Dunbar

Should you have any questions, please be sure to ask.  Debra Dunbar Nowell

I am cousin to Trish Gray who is posted on the Patriarch site. I descend from:
Samuel Dunbar, b. c1735 in Ireland?, m. Anne Moore, d. in Ireland?   Trish Gray [pgray223 AT excite.com
◾Alexander Dunbar, Sr., b. 13 Aug 1771, Wicklow, IRE, m. Elizabeth Dolmage, d. 5 Feb 1845, Rockwood, Ont. CAN
Then their daughter Elizabeth Dunbar who married George Perkins.

I have been in contact with Trish, but have not been able to connect with her lately. I am trying to make sense on how we would go back to the top of the Patriarch page. Also I do not understand the Genetic testing. I know that Trish said another known family member completed the testing. However I can't remember who that might have been. I would appreciate any help on understanding this. Thank You.

Hi Carla,

It's nice to meet you!  Unfortunately, Trish passed away several years ago.  She had two descendants test but I'm not at liberty to reveal their names.

There are two other people associated with this Dunbar family you could probably contact:
Donald Stanley Dunbar [dsdunbar AT me DOT com]
Debra Wawrzyniak [debbykayann AT att.net]

All the men in Lineage 1 are genetically related and are believed to descend from somewhere in the House of Dunbar Family Tree.  The test that's proving most effective in determining where in the tree is the 'Big Y' test which is very expensive.  The regular price is $575.00 and on sale is usually $475.00.  Maybe you and the other two people above could go in together and order that test for either person above.

Family Tree DNA has great resources to help you learn about DNA testing.  https://www.familytreedna.com/learn/
They have great Webinars in the Community section you might want to check out.

If you'd like to send a more complete tree of your direct line of descent from Elizabeth Perkins we can add it to our database.  Please send to: DunbarDNA AT gmail.com

Cheers, Debra

I am an interested Dunbar descendent, although not male, and am still searching for nearby cousins to help with the tests. In the meantime I am carefully combing through all the Dunbars I can to find 'points of probable attachment' for Robert Dunbar of Hingham, Plymouth Colony, former prisoner of Cromwell.

Here's my line:
1. Robert Dunbar d. 19 SEP 1693, Hingham, m. Rose (Can she be Margaret (Pega) Rose? Rose is a common surname in Moray linked with the Dunbars.)
2. Peter Dunbar, d. 23 APR 1719, Bridgewater, m. Sarah Thaxter
3. David (Peter's youngest child) Dunbar, d. BEF. 14 AUG 1781, Bridgewater, m. Mercy Soule.
4. Sylvester Dunbar, d. 19 FEB 1836, Croydon, NH, m. Hannah Powers
5. Rev. Otis Dunbar, d. 17 JUL 1883, Corning, IA, m. Julia M. True
6. Julia M. Dunbar, d. 18 MAR 1919, Hughs, South Dakota, m. Amos B. Webster.
Julia is my GGG Grandmother. She had 4 brothers and 2 sisters:
John "Fletcher" Dunbar, b. abt. 1836
Lewis Wilson Dunbar, b. abt. 1837
Lydia A Dunbar, b. abt 1840
Otis Henry (fought in the Civil War) Dunbar, b. 18 JUN 1842
Sarah E. DUnbar, b. abt 1846
Julia
Frederick Oberlin Dunbar, b. abt NOV 1848

Otis married secondly Abigail Gooden and had three daughters: twins Mary & Abby 1851, and Hattie 1861.

It's interesting to me that a couple of Dunbars, who descend from Alexander of Westfield, were priors who actually rebelled against the rule of celibacy for church positions. They continued to have mistresses, and several had children that were later 'legitimized'. One theoretical line for Robert Dunbar of Hingham that I have come up with is:

Robert Dunbar b. abt 1630, d. 1693, Hingham
Robert Dunbar of Westerton, b. bef 1560
Robert Dunbar of Inchallon, Moray, b. bef 1527 (b. illegitimate, legitimated 12 FEB 1547)
Alexander Dunbar, Prior of Pluscarden, b. abt 1510 (illegitimate), d. 19 SEP 1560
Mr. Patrick Dunbar, Chancellor of Aberdeen, b. abt 1461, d. 8 SEP 1525
Sir Alexander Dunbar, 1st Baron Westfield, b. 1420, Frendraught, Aberdeenshire, d. 10 MAR 1498/98 at Westfield, Elgin, Morayshire, Scotland. m. Isobel Sutherland of Duffus.

The lines from Mr. Patrick, Chancellor, are complex and full of undocumented branches that could easily support our Robert.

The names David and Robert are repeated over and over again from Alexander on, and it's very difficult to be sure who is who in the records.

There is a Lt. Robert Dunbar who appears in Moray's records for the year of the Battle at Dunbar and then disappears, and I thought he might be a match for our Prisoner, who might be on the officer's list, if not on the passenger list of the Unity. However, it seemed as though he appeared AFTER the battle of Dunbar.

Hi Clayton,
Great info in your post.  I am also descended from RofH, Robert Dunbar of Hingham Massachusetts.  Robert - Peter - James - James - Benjamin - Ruel - William - George - Donald -Donald -Me.  I am an assistant-administrator of the DunbarDNA project and immersed in the hunt for RofH's line in Scotland.  I have been reading everything I can find on Alexander & Isobel's descendants.  In the mean time we are getting close with DNA results, specifically the Big-Y from FTDNA.  My father tested Big-Y as did 3 other RofH descendants in the project. The only Robert - Peter - David tests we have are one Y-37 marker and one &-67 maker through David's son John.

The Big-Y results are here http://l257.groenebeverbv.nl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14&Itemid=120 (http://l257.groenebeverbv.nl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=14&Itemid=120)

Sir James, Chief of Clan Dunbar has a strong paper trail to Crinan the Thane d. 1045 via Alexander & Isobel's son Alexander Dunbar of Conzie.  Sir James has 7 unique SNPs found with Big Y and not shared with anyone else yet. John Dunbar in Australia who descends from Sir Alexander Dunbar & Isobel Sutherland's son Patrick of Bennefeld Chancellor of Aberdeen.  John has 3 unique SNPs not shared by anyone else yet.  We have new results from a recent test but are awaiting the raw data for him to be added to the results and tree in the above link.  We think he descends from Alexander & Isobel's (A&I) son David of Durris.  Each above; Alexander, Patrick, and David, are brothers and each has their own DNA signature. The RofH Big-Y results are close matches to Sir James and the two above. If we share unique SNPs with the new results it would indicate that we descend from David of Durris.  If not then its likely we are from one of A&I's other sons.  I would have to defer to the experts to learn if we could descend from A&I's son Patrick when not sharing his unique SNPs.

You have obviously done quite a bit of research and I hope we can collaborate on further research and will let you know Big-Y developments.  Are you a member of the DunbarDNA project?  We have a section for people who descend from Dunbar daughters.  You can see the published results from the DunbarDNA project link from the Clan Website. http://www.dunbardna.com/wfydnaresults.htm  (http://www.dunbardna.com/wfydnaresults.htm)

I am a member of the Scottish War Prisoner's yahoo group and DNA project and the Scottish DNA project.  There are several RofH descendants who participate in the SPOW yahoo group and I hope you will join the discussion and get added as a researcher for RofH. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/scottish_war_prisoners/info (https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/scottish_war_prisoners/info)  There is an associated facebook site and a blog with lots of information http://scottishprisonersofwar.com/ (http://scottishprisonersofwar.com/)  There has been much discussion of late of the skeletal remains of Dunbar prisoners who died at Durham Cathedral.  https://www.dur.ac.uk/archaeology/research/projects/europe/pg-skeletons/ (https://www.dur.ac.uk/archaeology/research/projects/europe/pg-skeletons/) The University of Durham Archaeology department exhumed up to 27 of these during a construction project and held a consultation in the town Dunbar late last year.  Here is a video of that event https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmfe_ml-S6Y&feature=youtu.be (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmfe_ml-S6Y&feature=youtu.be) One of the team is on the SPOW group.  He and the SPOW DNA admin attended.  Our group suggested DNA testing and we are working with them on that.  We also suggested that they be reburied atop Doon Hill on the Dunbar Battlefield.

The administrator of the SPOW and Scotland DNA sites, John Cleary, has been very helpful and thinks we have a good chance of finding RofH's paper trail.  I had noted the Lt. Colonel Robert Dunbar on the captured officers list from the Battle of Dunbar.  John Cleary indicates that it would be highly unusual for an officer to be transported to the colonies as RofH was.  He is in Edinburgh and has done research in the National Archives.  I am going to try to enlist the help of a RofH descendant who is a young barrister in Edinburgh to see if he can work on the paper trail too.  Your research and sources will be a big help getting when looking at the Old Parish records and the National Archives.  Please feel free to contact me direct via email at David AT DunbarOilandGas D0T com.  I also hope to see you on the Yahoo SPOW blog.
Best regards,
David Dunbar
