I am the genealogist for my wife's family; she is a Hamer, but her great grandfather was a Hammer. I suspect that the name may have been Hammersmith previously. I have ordered a 37-marker kit for her brother's son, Herman Hilary Hamer.

Laurentius/Lawrence Hammer bc 1813 Bavaria d 1875 Massillon, OH m Rosanna Fisher 1841
Phillip J. Hammer b 1852 Massillon, OH d 1912 Massillon, OH m Mary Clemens c 1877
Roman John Hammer/Hamer b 1877 Massillon, OH d 1947 Columbus, OH m Faye Jeanette Turney 1900
Herman Horace Hamer b 1901 Columbus, OH d 1981 Santa Monica, CA m Helen Fowler 1927
Robert Rome Hamer b 1935 Columbus, OH d 2007 m Kathleen Elizabeth Landrigan 1965

Hi, Art.

Your pedigree has been posted:

I'm glad that a test has been ordered for your wife's nephew.  When his results come in later, I would suggest emailing me at to let me know that they are available and I can get the posted to the Hammer results page, as notifications from FamilyTreeDNA to us tend to get quite backed up.

Thanks so much for submitting the pedigree, we look forward to working with you and your family in the future!
