Join the The Vick DNA Project

This page is an elaboration on the aspects of individual participation.  On the Discussion Page you will see information of the number of participants in the projects and our results so far.

Please remember that women can participate too.  Although women do not carry YDNA, there are many brothers. cousins,  uncles, fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers who might participate if they had an enthusiastic woman relative willing to pay for part or all of a test.  At the FTDNA Vick project page (link below), there is a provision for paying with a credit card or being billed - Anyone can do this.  It doesn't have to be the project member.

Surnames in this Project: Our project is open to any male Vick or any of the variants or to any man believing that he is descended from one of those names. Vick and its variants have family members in many countries of the world including England, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the Nordic countries, and France.  Participants are sought from all parts of the world and all races.

Click here to place an order for a DNA test at Family Tree DNA.  You will notice a drop-down menu at the bottom of that page.  This menu will list the types of tests available and costs.  The test will be conducted by Family Tree DNA, of Houston TX, the World's leading testing company for Surname DNA Projects.  All tests include an estimate of the "Haplogroup" (an indication of deep ancestry).

  • The test is a simple cheek swab.  The kit will arrive and leave your house by mail.  You simply rub the inside of your cheek a number of times with a special scraper, put the kit back into the envelope, and put it in the mail.
