Lineage 1- Peter Robb / Raub of Pennsylvania
This family descends from Peter Raab/Raub/Robb, who was born in Germany or PA, and died in Ohio. This family is haplogroup E1b1b1.


Lineage 2- Robb / Robe of Scotland and Ireland
William Robe was born, probably in Scotland, in about 1719, and came to Monongalia County, Virginia, now West Virginia. Information on the descendants of William Robe from descendant and researcher Margaret Summitt can be found here . This family is haplogroup I2b1.


The line of Robert Robb of Cumberland and Lycoming Counties, Pennsylvania has an 63/67 match with the descendants of Joseph Robb below. There is an 80% chance of a common relative within 12 generations and a 93% chance within 16 generations, so these families are certainly connected. Robb researcher John B. Robb has good evidence to support that many of these lineage 2 families connect to John Robb b. say 1695, who appears first on the 1726 tax list for Sadsbury Township, Chester Co., PA, and continues there until at least 1748. He is found on the tax list for Cumberland Co. in 1751, and made his will in that county on 10 Jun 1761.

Austin's "Old 300" colonists, and his biography on the Handbook of Texas website makes for fascinating reading. The descendants of Andrew Robb are related to the Robb lineage above, with an 80% chance of a common ancestor within the last 16 generations, and a 98% chance of a common ancestor within the last 25 generations.     This Robb line originates in Stonebyres, Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, and descendants migrated to Michigan. According to a researcher of this line, Scott Pomeroy, early searches of parish records show that a John Robb and Mary MacLeod, both of Lesmahagow Parish, had a son John Robb baptized in 1646, and a son James Robb baptized in 1650. Either of these sons could be the grandfather of Thomas Robb. b. 1715.

    German Raub, Raup, Robb Lines

    The Hans Herg Raub Line
    The line of many Robb, Raub, Raup, Roop, etc. families who came from Northampton and Northumberland County seem to point back to Hans Jerg, or Henry George Raub, who came to America on the ship "Loyal Judith" from Germany via Rotterdam, and arrived in Philadelphia in 1732. There were a number of Raub, Raup, Rapp, and Roups listed on the passenger list, and while some were likely related, it is not certain how--if at all--the different men were related. Now, thanks to genetic genealogy and DNA testing, we have the ability to sort out these lines. The list below is compiled from a number of sources including Pennsylvania German Pioneers A list of ships arriving in Philadelphia 1727 to 1808 , Vol. 1, 1727 to 1775 by Ralph Strassburger; the Ancestral File; and a number of very well done family research sites including http://www.raub-and-more.com.

    The Peter Raub Line
