Hello Everyone
NEW YEAR – NEW CHALLENGE!
2010 heralds in a New Year and a 'New Challenge' for those of us with the FRAME, FRAM, FRAIM, FREAME, FREAM, FREEME and variant surnames worldwide. The FRAME ONE-NAME STUDY was officially registered with the Guild of One-Name Studies in England on 2 January 2010. Will you please join me in the data collection challenge for the registered surname FRAME and the registered variants: FRAM, FRAIM, FREAM, FREAME & FREEME ? We will accept data on other close variants as well!
For those unaware, the Guild of One-Name Studies offers this information: http://www.one-name.org/onename.html with more on data collection here: http://www.one-name.org/onsdatac.html
This is a massive task, and certainly too much for one person, so please get involved if you have the time! As part of collecting available data on these surnames, I will be happy to include links to family websites or to family trees posted on Rootsweb World Connect or other sites that may be publicly viewed. Please do NOT submit links to private sites requiring a username and password, or to sites which would require an interested viewer to pay a subscription fee. Family Trees may be uploaded to the Rootsweb World Connect Project free of charge and are freely available for all to view. See: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/
If you upload your Frame or variant surname tree via a Gedcom file to the World Connect Project - please send us the link. If you have extracted Frame or variant surname information from parish or county records anywhere in the world, I would be grateful if you would consider sharing them with the Frame DNA & One-Name Study. I will publicly acknowledge your contributions unless you instruct otherwise. Please forward details to frame@one-name.org . Pages will be added to the FRAME DNA & ONE-NAME STUDY website to house new data for the Frame One-Name Study as it increases. Please do share the challenge with me to build a substantial library of data for the Frame One-Name Study! I especially appreciate material that can be copied and pasted to save valuable time!
NEW ASSOCIATE PROJECT - THE FRAIN DNA PROJECT
After some discussion with interested parties, it was decided to split the Frame DNA Project into dual projects. Thus the Frain DNA Project was recently established to accommodate those with Eligible Surnames of the ‘n’ spelling such as Frane, Franey, Frain, DuFrane, Dufresne etc. There were a number of reasons, but foremost in mind is that it might be more comfortable to those folk with the ‘n’ spelling to have their own domain instead of being grouped together with Frame. This appears to be a better arrangement for the longer term and we hope the Frains, Franeys, Freynes etc. will be encouraged to support their new Project. Needless to say, it is expected that some folk with the ‘n’ spelling will eventually DNA match Frame men, especially those who’s Herefordshire ancestors were originally known as De Freigne, De Fresne, some of whom later adopted the surname Franche, French or Francey (Frame and Franc are synonymous; Frame and France coats of arms identical. See Frame Origins page). Thus, by having the dual projects - transferring between projects, or posting results in both projects, will be easily arranged.
Franey F15 in the Frame Project is now FN-01 in the Frain Project. Fraim F39 in Frame is now FN-02 in the Fraim Project. Some additional profiles for this surname group were obtained from Ysearch for uploading and comparison on the FRAIN DNA PROJECT Results page. These were for the variant surnames DuFrane (haplogroup R1b1b2) and Dufresne (haplogroup I). Even though the results for Franey, Frain and DuFrane show they are all hap. R1b1b2 - they do not share a common ancestor within a genealogical timeframe, perhaps not for several thousand years. The Dufresne in haplogroup I, will not be related for tens of thousands of years. It is very obvious that unlike the Frames who are very close kin, there will be much more genetic diversity between those whose Frain, Frene, Dufesne and variant surname ancestors acquired them topographically due to their clans being ‘dwellers near Ash trees’ or alternatively, who have been unrelated folk in septs who took the name of a clan leader or his abode. (See Frain Origins) Hopefully additional testing will eventually help identify the different points of origin and the ancient progenitors.
BREAKING NEWS! Introducing Family Tree DNA's Newest Project: The Family Finder “This is the most exciting genetic genealogy breakthrough since the company launched its Y-DNA test, which uncovered relatives in the direct paternal line”, says Bennett Greenspan, founder and President of Family Tree DNA. While the Y-DNA matches men with a specific paternal line, and the mtDNA finds potential relatives only along the maternal line, Family Finder can look for close relationships along all ancestral lines. You may now match to male and female cousins from any of your family lines within five generations. The science behind it uses linked blocks of DNA across the 22 autosomal chromosomes and matches them between two people. Based on this concept, the FTDNA bioinformatics team has worked extensively to develop the calculations that would tell you the closeness of the relationship. FTDNA have offered a limited number of their existing customers a Family Finder Test during the pre launch. They anticipate Family Finder will be offered for general release in the middle of March. The possibilities to find matches abound:
When you take the Family Finder test, your results are compared against the FTDNA Family Finder database. You will be able to:
Read more about Family Finder testing and Projects. Special Note: The Family Finder test requires an untouched vial of DNA. If you are already a client of FTDNA and your kit does not have an extra vial on file, FTDNA will mail a collection kit for a new FREE DNA extraction. After ordering you will be notified by email whether we are able to use a stored vial or will be mailing a new collection kit. I have heard already that one of our Frame females have ordered a Family Finder test. No doubt more will follow soon! This test might be helpful to folk who don’t match with their surname on the all-male Y-DNA line.
NEW ORDERS
A new order for a 37-marker Y-DNA Test has been placed for F41. We welcome him to the Frame DNA Project!
FRAME DNA & ONE-NAME STUDY: Website Update.
Most pages have undergone some updates - some willingly, and some caused by disaster! A fair amount of editing was needed to accommodate the One-Name Study data collection. However, as I was working on the Patriarch page…always a problem for someone not blessed with ‘geek genes’… I lost all of the information and had to do an entire reconstruction. This involved manually re-typing a lot of the lineage information. Please check over your Patriarch section and advise of any typos etc. I am now listing the Patriarchs numerically by the Participant’s I.D. code regardless of DNA groupings - that way ‘moving them around’ won’t be necessary in the future and will save time as well. New Patriarchs will simply be added to the bottom of the list. Hopefully, further disasters like this will be avoided. However, this Admin and technology are sometimes not the best of friends!
JUST ONE OTHER REMINDER If you want to join more than one project: FTDNA allows each participant to belong to as many as five projects: 2 surname projects 1 geographic project 1 y-haplogroupi project (if you have been yDNA tested) 1 mt-haplogroup (if you have been mtDNA tested)
If you want to join a Y-Haplogroup Project: On your FTDNA personal page is a blue button labeled "join". Click on that button, then scroll down to the Y-Haplogroups listing. Then, locate and click on the letter of the alphabet for your Y-Haplogroup. Then, select the Y-Haplogroup project which best serves you.
If you want to join an mt-DNA, follow the same procedure. Obviously, you cannot join an mtDNA-Haplogroup project if you have not done a mtDNA test.
If you want to join a Geographic Project: The French and Irish Projects might good ones for some of us. Again, on your FTDNA personal page is a blue button labeled "join". Click on that button, then scroll down to the Geographic Project listings. Note - some Geographic projects are for both yDNA and mtDNA, while others are for only yDNA or only for mtDNA. Also - the Ethnic projects are included in the Geographic Projects categories. Then, locate and click on the letter of the alphabet for your desired Geographic Project. Then, select the project which best serves you. You are not limited to just your own surname project!
THANK YOU
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Ian C and Ian R who sent in Testimonials. There is a link to them in the black selection box on the Home page. Volunteer Admins like myself always hope that our participants have been satisfied with their DNA experience but often cannot guage the reaction. That these gentlemen have taken the time to send in their thoughts is very much appreciated!
Kindest regards Julie (Frame) Falk Admin Frame DNA Project

First of all, we extend to you and your loved ones our very best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season! It’s that time of year when most of us are probably a little busy preparing for festivities, so this is a quick update on Frame Project happenings to round off another year:
1. A reminder that Family Tree DNA’s holiday discount period will cease shortly. All orders must be placed and paid for by December 31 2009. The savings are considerable, as the 67-marker Y-DNA test, which is the preferred test for our Project, is only $209 during this promotion. This is an ideal time for testing collateral branches of your tree, and a DNA test also makes a great gift! Orders may be place here: http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=frame
2. It goes without saying that the more participants enrolled in a Project, the clearer the kinship picture becomes. Since we administrators are unpaid volunteers who manage ‘not for profit’ Projects, paying for advertising is simply not possible. However, ‘word-of-mouth’ and message board posts are free and can be a very successful for method of recruitment by those of you wishing to seek others to test branch lines.
3. Since our last newsletter, new 67-marker results have been received for F31, F36, F37 and F38. 67-marker upgrades are also back for F34 and F21. F19's upgrade is due back within a couple of days. We sincerely appreciate the generosity of the sponsor who made two of these upgrades possible. Our Results and Discussion pages have been updated accordingly.
You will note that the Results page now includes Kit numbers and Ysearch IDs as well as the participant ID codes we use to protect privacy. The large Frame A group has now been broken up into five sub-groups based on nearest matches/shared mutations and/or paper trail connections. A link to sub-group relationship charts is also provided on this page.
4. We extend a very warm welcome to F39, the first Frain to join us thus far and it will be especially interesting to see if his family shares an ancient common origin with Frame; we expect that a ‘Fresne’ / Frame match will occur at sometime in the future.
5. Sadly, November saw us bid farewell to one of our participants: Arthur William Frame, aged 87. Arthur was a descendant of Robert Frame and Ann Thomson of Larkhall, Dalserf, Lanarkshire (see Patriarch page) and uncle to participant Carl and admin. Julie. He passed away in NSW Australia on 10 November 2009 and will be very sadly missed by his family and friends. Arthur has been included on our new Heroes page (see following) for his services to Golf administration for over half a century. He also served his country as a 20-year-old lad on the infamous Kokoda Track during WWII, and had two decades as a volunteer Fireman. Towards the end of his life, Arthur decided to join our Project ranks in case his DNA revealed a valuable mutation or two to be mapped for future reference. His results were an exact 67-marker match with Carl and F34. Vale, Arthur.
6. During the past couple of months we have increased the content on the Frame DNA Project website. On the Home page: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/frame , an additional red table of links to sub-pages has been included under the title The Frame Name In History. We hope you might consider adding your contributions to some of these pages:
Those shown on this page can be either living or deceased. This is for any individual who has, or had, a high public profile related to their chosen field of endeavour.
These Frames will most likely be from the Covenanter or Huguenot periods.
The ‘Skeletons in the Closet’ - We had best restrict this page to ‘long deceased’ individuals and already have an interesting mix to begin this category!
True heroes don’t see themselves as such and would shy away from the term; however, we wish to honour them. Our Heroes can be from absolutely any walk of life - not necessarily Military heroes, although we certainly want to honour those too. However, if they are still living, we need your nominee to have consented to being included on our Heroes page.
If you have a particular branch line for which you would like to encourage a tester – please send the details to the admin. so that they can be listed on this page.
This is a potted collection of Frame facts – many gleaned from an Ancestry.com publication, so it is weighted rather heavily towards Frames who settled in the United States.
To date, this page has an assortment of placenames beginning with the ‘Fram’ prefix, Frame schools, chapels etc. and also a selection of Frame Cemeteries in the USA.
This page has an example of the widespread distribution of families bearing the Frame or variant surnames. We would expect descendants of many of these individuals to show a kinship with the family of Frame.
We will be able to add additional links and sub-pages as the need arises, such as Biographies etc., so if you discover any references at all during your research that you believe could be published on these pages, please email the details (with sources) to the Admin. We welcome your participation in building up the content as it will add additional interest. It is also a matter of family pride!
[Admin Note, 25 Jan 2010: Some of these categories have now been moved to the RECORDS page with Frame One-Name Study Data]
7. Many of the patriarchs on our Patriarch page now have a photograph of a direct male line descendant included with their section, and very handsome they are too! If your Patriarch does not have a photograph in his section, please consider sending one to the Admin for inclusion. The likeness between some of these Frame men is astonishing: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/frame/pats
Most Patriarch sections also have a link to a genealogy report. If your report needs to be corrected or updated, please let us know and we will do our best to fix it for you. Please either send a standard genealogy report from your genealogy program as a replacement; or, if only a minor edit is required, email the details to the Admin
8. The Origins page has also been updated by the inclusion of links to Michael Stanhope’s research notes on Frame Family Origins, and also his Descendants of Ragnar page where he discusses the possible Viking connection. There is also a link to a simplified Mud Map to demonstrate the Norman nexus from which we believe the family of Frame evolved: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/frame/disc The match between Frame A and St John was critical to our research, due to their obvious kinship with the family of Fresne/Fresnel. Because of the importance of this match, the administrator sponsored a 67-marker upgrade for the St. John descended from Adam de Port of Basing. Results for the additional markers should be available shortly.
9. The balance of the Frame General Sponsorship Fund is currently: $90.18. Donations to help towards the costs of future critical tests and upgrades are always welcome. These may be made via the following link: http://www.familytreedna.com/group-general-fund-contribution.aspx Please remember to specify ‘Frame’ as the recipient of your sponsorship by scrolling down the page to the selection box, clicking ‘F’ and then choosing ‘Frame’ from the list provided.
Once again, we wish you a wonderful holiday season and many new discoveries in 2010!

The last three months have gone by so quickly and it seems an appropriate time to update you on Frame DNA Project happenings: 1. CO-ADMIN CHANGES Lynn has been a co-admin for quite some time now and I have appreciated her taking time out of her busy life to offer Project support. Lynn has chosen to continue in a supporting role as a much-needed researcher into the wider Frame family. Thank you Lynn; I appreciate your efforts to help disentangle the many puzzling Frame lines. John D. is taking on the role of co. admin. I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Katherine Hope Borges and Gordon Hamilton for their ongoing support as mentors to the Frame DNA Project, and to Terry Barton for generously hosting the Frame DNA Project website. Their valuable guidance has helped to keep us going. Thank you all.
2. WEBSITE UPDATES Since the last update, new results have been posted for F33, F34 and F35. Their details are shown on the Y-DNA Results, Patriarchs and Discussion pages which can be accessed via the links in the black menu bar at the top of each page. Charts have also been updated. All of these testers belong to the ever-growing Frame A group.
The latest DNA analysis has shown that F35 has another avenue to explore for the ancestry of his patriarch John T. Frame born 1848. F35 has had a notion that he might be a descendant of James ‘Irish Jimmy’ Frame – the same as F30. They do have a match on 64 of 67 markers, but F35 has closer matches (66/67) with F12, F23 and F18, descendants of William Frame (1725), so it might be beneficial for him to compare paper trails with these participants as he continues his paper trail research. F33 continues to explore his Scottish ancestry to see where he might connect to other lines in Frame A from the Hamilton area.
3. NEW TESTS PENDING New 67-marker tests are pending for F36 and F37. F34 has ordered a 38-67 upgrade. Thanks to an anonymous benefactor, we may also have a couple of other 38-67 upgrades in the pipeline.
An approach has been made to descendants of William Frame and Helen Leiper of Dalserf parish in Lanarkshire to share the costs of a 67-marker test for a descendant. We hope this will eventuate in the not too distant future. William Frame was the ancestor of the Lanarkshire families who established the famous Frame’s Bakeries and also Frame’s Buses.
4. ‘INSTANT’ SUCCESS F34 did not need to order his 38-67 marker upgrade to further his genealogy; he had success at a record rate from his 37-marker test alone. However, he is testing the remaining panel of markers to help us map any mutations that might have occurred in his collateral branch.
When F34’s 37-marker results came back from the Lab., we found that he was an exact match for F01 and F32. He was also a 36/37 match with F22. After doing a little conventional research on F34's family we found that he descended from James Frame 1809, my gg-grandfather’s brother who was one of twins. All researchers of our family tree had presumed that these twins had not survived. Within about 48-hours of F34’s results coming back, documentary proof was found to validate the connection and F34 had his genealogy extended back another 100 years to our ancestor Robert Frame born c.1705. An absence from the 1841 census and an error in age recorded in the 1851 census document had prevented the discovery that James (1809) had survived to adulthood. He died before the 1861 census. Conventional research had not been sufficient for us to make this link, but DNA provided the extra focus. F34’s ‘brick wall’ has now been demolished and he is also my ‘new’ 4th cousin.
Our Scottish cousin F22 has the mutation DYS447=22 and we now know it occurred somewhere in the line between him and his ancestor George (1811), the brother of James (1809). This kind of information is valuable to us when considering whether we might connect to others with the same mutation. In F22's case, we know it has been a random match and irrelevant to the three others in Frame A carrying the same mutation. We look forward to determining whether there are any mutations in the branch between F34 and his ancestor James (1809).
5. FRAME DNA PROJECT – U.S. and U.K. Research Hubs Those of us using the Research Hubs established at MyFamily.com are finding them very convenient. The Frame DNA Discussion Group that was originally set up at Yahoo is now virtually redundant. We have three Frame sites at MyFamily: Frame Family Genealogy with about 160 members from around the world, and the two ‘spin-off’ sites: Frame DNA Project – UK and US Research Hubs, which make navigation between sites much easier. The general Frame genealogy website has led to an increased number of project participants signing on, and all those associated with our MyFamily nexus find is easy to use the same platform for both purposes and appreciate the additional privacy of the Hubs for any DNA discussion.
The Research Hubs are restricted to DNA testers, admins., test sponsors and line leaders. Because of privacy issues and the fact that we use the names of testers in the Hubs and not ID codes, we must keep membership to a very tight circle. If a tester is not the main genealogist of his family and feels the need to request membership for someone who is, we can consider inviting one person as the line leader, but they must understand the need to respect the privacy of the other testers. We wish very much to progress our research and could certainly use the additional research contributions, but protecting the privacy of participants is mandatory.
In the past, invitations to the appropriate HUB have been issued to all participants; however, email from MyFamily.com is sometimes treated as Spam and dispatched to junk folders. If any tester would like a new invitation issued, please contact the Frame Admin .
6. GENERAL SPONSORSHIP FUND The balance of the Frame General Sponsorship Fund is now $0.00. The remaining $39 has been allocated towards a 67-marker test for new participant F37 as his test provided a unique opportunity. F37's ancestor Andrew Frame born c.1767 married a Jean Frame. Jean Frame’s brother was also an Andrew Frame born 1776. The younger Andrew descends in the direct male line from Patriarch Robert Frame of Dalserf born c.1705. However, because of this Frame / Frame marriage, Robert c.1705 had other descendants of the Frame surname NOT descended in the direct male line. We do not know the direct male line ancestry of the older Andrew born c.1767 (birth year estimated from the baptism of his first known child). This older Andrew might have been born before 1767. Since Frame A and Frame B both had families in Dalserf parish – this test provides the opportunity to determine which group this older Andrew was related to. His first known son was a James Frame. The patriarch of Frame B was a James Frame born c.1741-44 and we will immediately know if James R. is a direct male line descendant of this James Frame. We will also determine if male Frames descended from Robert Frame c.1705 had two different DNA profiles.
As always, donations to the Frame General Sponsorship Fund would be very welcome. Perhaps some of you may have fundraising ideas that will help generate some revenue so that we can encourage some additional tests. |

The importance of testing collateral branches of our family tree has often been mentioned and for this reason, I personally have two tests underway for family branches to the side of my brother who was the first to test for the Frame DNA Project (F01). My new collateral branch testers are an uncle (in Australia), and a 4th cousin once removed (in Scotland). The opportunity to test our distant cousin in Scotland, knowing his position on our family tree, proved irresistible. I sincerely appreciate his participation! Even though the tests are not yet fully completed, my 4th cousin has already surprised me by carrying the mutation DYS447=22, the same mutation carried by two others in our Project. By testing collateral branches, we have the benefit of mapping where the mutation at this marker occurred in our own family tree – and that is somewhere in the direct line between George Frame (1811) and my 4th cousin. The genetic knowledge gained from the wider branches of our families may eventually help us better understand our matches to those with whom we don’t yet have a paper trail connection.

To Frame DNA Project Participants Hello Everyone
Updates: 1. Some of you might have had notification from Family Tree DNA regarding SNP results. Originally, many of us were ‘predicted’ as being haplogroup I1 or R1b1b2. When FTDNA introduced their new SNP Assurance Program, many showing with the red ‘predicted’ haplogroup found that it disappeared from the results page altogether. Since then, FTDNA have provided many free backbone tests for new members to confirm their haplogroup and these are now shown in green. However, many of our older members did not receive these backbone tests so they have been applied for on your behalf if yours was one of the haplogroups not showing. Your confirmed haplogroup designation will now also show in green. We are still waiting on confirmation for F12 and F21, but we don’t expect any surprises! You now have access to new and more detailed information on your personal page at FTDNA by clicking the ‘Haplotree’ link in the left column. It shows where your ‘Y-Chromosome tribe fits into the ‘bigger picture’ – very interesting to explore, as are the new maps. Those with haplogroups still showing in red do not need to be concerned. Your haplogroup designation is unambiguous and you automatically have access to these facilities on your personal page. At this stage, there would be no benefit in you ordering any further Deep Clade tests or advanced tests.
2. Most pages at the Frame DNA Project website have now been updated. Links to detailed Genealogies have been included on the Patriarch and Results pages. These are from various sources, so if you have one that you believe is more accurate, please forward to Frame Admin by email. However, the replacement must be in the format of a ‘Genealogy Report’ copied from a program such as Family Tree Maker and pasted into a Word document. These Genealogies are only meant to be basic and will hopefully help prospective participants identify and consider testing for collateral branches of your tree. Please check what is posted in your section on the Results and Patriarch pages and advise if there are any problems.
3. The Sponsorship drive earlier in the year went well, and in the process we managed to clean out the entire General Sponsorship Fund except for $39! Nevertheless, we gained some vital information and now have profiles from descendants of more Pennsylvania Pioneers. See these mentioned via the links on the results Discussion page.
4. Three new tests are pending, as well as F14's 67-marker upgrade. F14 has also ordered a 67-marker test for another Frame gentleman whom he knew many years ago. They always wondered if they were related, so we shall look forward to seeing what eventuates when results come back! I am pleased to say that I also have two orders pending for my own family branches. My elderly uncle decided to get his profile ‘banked’ in the Project for posterity, and I also have a distant cousin in Scotland testing. The importance of testing known branches of our pedigrees cannot be stressed highly enough – please consider doing this if you possibly can.
5. The Origins page has finally been commenced. The first sections are Deep Ancestry and Surname Origins. We plan to add more about our medieval founder lineages in the next phase. That pretty much covers the Frame Project news for now. Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers!

To Frame DNA Project Participants Just a quick note on a couple of matters:
1. SPONSORSHIPS First of all, a reminder that the Sponsorship offers for free tests or upgrades will expire in a couple of days. If the following sponsorships are not accepted by 5.pm (Pacific Time) on Feb. 15, 2009 they will be withdrawn:
i: F04: – free upgrade from 37 to 67 markers ii: F24: – free upgrade from 37 to 67 markers iii: F14: - free 37-marker test
2. PATRIARCHS With the aim of encouraging collateral branches of the various Frame families to DNA test, we are adding links to genealogies and biographies from the Patriarch Page. In the future, we hope to also add a link to the genealogies from the Results Page. We need your cooperation to do this. If you would like your genealogy posted (only down to about 1910) please forward a Gedcom file of your Frame family, or alternatively – a standard Genealogy Report from your Family Tree program which you have copied and pasted into a Word document. Please send as an attachment to the Frame Admin. For an example of how these will display, please check F01’s section on the Patriarch Page – Descendants of Robert Frame (c1712) of Dalserf: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/frame/pats
With data already on file, we should be able to take care of this task for some of you. We don’t need to include endnotes or special notes for this purpose. Biographies may also help to focus interest on your particular family. Our American cousins appear to have many of these recorded in various county histories, so if you have one relating to a family member in your direct line of descent, please consider having it posted on the Patriarch page. Others, as with the F01 example, could just be written up as you wish, as long as we take care to respect the privacy of those still living. The biography link can be placed in the appropriate place on your line of descent.
These steps are not being taken to provide general genealogical material to the wider community, but rather to encourage others to join you in your pursuit to expand and validate your family lineage through DNA testing. At present, we have quite a number of ‘stand alone’ lines of descent – which is fine if we only want to determine that we are related to other Frames. However, if we eventually hope to find links between some of our families – the mutations in the collateral branches should be beneficial. Certain mutations will eventually define particular family branches. If you have a personal objective to test a certain line, please let me know and it can be added to ‘Ideal Participants’ on your section of the page.
3. UPLOADING GEDCOMS TO FAMILY TREE DNA and YSEARCH As yet, many of you still have not uploaded a Gedcom file through your personal page at Family Tree DNA or to your Ysearch account. This is a valuable way to help you work with those you closely match to try to discover where your families might intersect. Some of you will be able to upload a Gedcom quite easily. However, if anyone needs help, please contact the Frame Admin for assistance.
4. TESTS PENDING Tests currently being processed are:
i. 67-marker Y-DNA test for a descendant of ‘Irish Jimmy’ Frame ii. 37-67 upgrade for F23, descendant of James frame d.1754 Augusta Co. iii. 12-67 upgrade for F29 – descendant of Thomas Frame b.1852 Scotland

The Frame DNA project has now entered its third year and our numbers continue to grow, with expansion best described as ‘slow and steady’! Just a quick note on a couple of matters:
FRAME DNA PROJECT WEBSITE The World Families Network which kindly hosts the Frame DNA Project’s public website is again upgrading the operating system. WFN advises that websites will be further enhanced and we look forward to future developments. From time to time during the upgrade, our pages may not display normally. This should not be a long-term situation and any necessary ‘tidying-up’ will be left until after the programming work is concluded.
PATRIARCH PAGE Thank you to all who submitted photographs of a male from your direct lines of descent for publication on the Patriarch page: http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/frame/pats Whilst we do not have a photograph to represent every lineage tested, those that are included are distributed throughout most of the page and this has added additional interest.
Should you have extended your Frame pedigree back to earlier generations through genealogical research, it would be appreciated if you would forward the additional details to the administrator so that your line of descent may be extended on the Patriarch page. Please email the details to: Frame Admin.
RECRUITMENT One of the greatest challenges facing Surname DNA Projects such as ours is the recruitment of new members. Whilst considerable efforts have been made to keep the Frame DNA Project in the public gaze through posts to Message Boards at Genforum and Ancestry.com etc., our participants would undoubtedly be the best advocates to seek out new recruits to help validate and extend pedigrees. Unfortunately, the current economic downturn might present an additional impediment to expanding the Frame Project; thus, it appears timely to utilise the donations made to the General Sponsorship Fund for further testing.
GENERAL SPONSORSHIP FUND Currently, the Frame DNA Project has available some additional sponsorship funds to supplement the current balance of the General Sponsorship Fund ($241). For a limited period of time, a number of free DNA tests or upgrades will be offered to selected Project participants whose results might contribute valuable information both to themselves and the Frame DNA Project in general. The administrators are grateful for the generous donations made to the General Sponsorship Fund by Janis Bailey ($150); C. F - Anon. ($100) and Mary Tuxhorn ($38). Thus, the following offers have been made giving due regard to the genealogical pursuits of those donors:
