Mankind can be divided into three groups:

The FRAME DNA PROJECT was established to:

1. Identify the DNA of ancestor families and compile them and their lost branches into distinct genetic lineages through DNA matches (See the Results and Discussion pages)

2. Help researchers on common or related families work together to find their common heritage. (See the Results and Patriarch pages)

3. Identify which variant surnames are related.  (See Misc. page for 'The Search for the Origin of Frame ')

4. Attempt to identify the deep roots of all Frame families (See Misc. Page for 'The Search for the Origin of Frame ')

The Project is particularly interested in Y-DNA testing:

i. A direct male line descendant of the FREAME family of Gloucestershire, England with the FREAME (or var.) surname and a documented pedigree.

ii. A direct male line descendant of ROGER DE RAIMES (Companion of the Conqueror) with the RAIMES / REYMES / REYNES (or var.) surname and a documented pedigree.

iii. A direct male line descendant of Geoffrey de FRAXINO / FRAXINETO (de Freyne); Odo de FRAXINETO or  Fulk de FREIGNE of Ireland with the FREYNE or FRENCH surnames and documented pedigree.

SPONSORSHIP:

The Frame DNA Project has established a General Sponsorship Fund at Family Tree DNA to help encourage participation in the Project.

Depending on the availability of funds at the time, sponsorship will fall into three classes:

1) To those with a well-documented paper trail who will possibly provide a critical missing link between family lines:  $100

2) To those with a Frame line traced back a minimum 8 generations and not tied to those already represented in the Project: $75

(The lines that have been tested are indicated by a red I.D. code (i.e. F01 on the Patriarch page.)

Should we be blessed with generous sponsors who wish to assist us boost membership, the following may also become available:

3) To those with a well documented paper trail, sponsorship on a ‘first come – first served basis’: $50

Pending availability of funds, the decision to grant sponsorship will be at the discretion of the Administrators who will utilise the funds in a manner most beneficial to the Project. To apply for sponsorship, please send an email with details of your family line to:  kvjjmmborges@msn.com

The Administrators will place the order for a test kit on behalf of those members who are granted sponsorship, and an invoice will be forward by Family Tree DNA to reflect the subsidised amount which the member may then pay by Credit Card.  Sponsorship will not be available for the 12 or 25 marker tests.

TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SPONSORSHIP FUND:

Please note that no sponsorship money will be held by the Administrators of the Frame DNA Project. Sponsorship may be contributed securely by Credit Card or Paypal directly to Family Tree DNA who will then hold the funds in trust for the Frame DNA Project. They will apply the sponsorship rebate to new tests as directed by the Frame DNA Project Administrators. Donations to help expand the Frame DNA Project are always welcome, whether it is $10 or $10 million…whatever you feel comfortable with giving. Your contribution towards the advancement of Frame Family research will be invaluable. Please keep us in mind if you are having a Frame Family Reunion – they are great venues for raising funds for DNA testing! Should you wish to nominate a particular family line for your sponsorship grant, please advise the Administrator. We will gladly accept your donation with whatever conditions you wish to attach! Your donation should be made at the secure Contribution Page at Family Tree DNA:

http://www.familytreedna.com/contribution.html

Please also send an email to the Frame DNA Project Administrator: kvjjmmborges@msn.com  to advise of your contribution. Sponsors names will be publicly acknowledged on the Frame DNA Project website, although you may also elect to contribute anonymously. We thank you in advance for your generous support!

Project Discussion:

The DNA information is to be used in conjunction with historical and traditional research. DNA results do not often “prove” a relationship, but can be quite helpful in guiding research. If a DNA profile does not match traditional genealogy, a hypothesized relationship may be incorrect.  At other times DNA results may point to an unknown adoption in the family, or some other so-called non-paternity event.

The tested individual must be a male who wants to check his paternal line (father's father's ... father's line). Females should look for a brother or cousin or more distant male relative with that surname to be tested.

Females may also order a test for themselves, which will be the mtDNA or mtDNAPlus, but the results of their test do not tie to the FRAME Surname DNA Project.

What are the specifics?

The test will be conducted by FAMILY TREE DNA of Houston TX, the World's leading testing company for Surname DNA Projects.  All tests include an estimate of the "Haplogroup" (an indication of deep ancestry).

 ***Please Note***

We personally recommend testing the highest number of markers you can afford.

Although test discounts are offered to FRAME DNA PROJECT members by FAMILY TREE DNA  , it does not suggest a business partnership or any other relationship between the FRAME DNA PROJECT and FAMILY TREE DNA. All fees are payably only and directly to FAMILY TREE DNA. The FRAME DNA PROJECT will not in any way have control of DNA samples, nor will it have the responsibility for their care, handling or return to our project participants. The FRAME DNA PROJECT does not have a duty to act on behalf of a project participant in mediation of any disputes arising between a project participant and FAMILY TREE DNA.

A match between project participants may suggest they share a common ancestor, however it will not identify the specific ancestor. There is no guarantee that every participant will match anyone in the FRAME DNA PROJECT or any other public database.

By participating in the FRAME DNA PROJECT, the participant agrees to all conditions of the Project.
