We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for this Surname.   Our Surname Project is primarily interested in your Paternal line, as surnames are passed down from father to son, just as the yDNA is passed down.

If you ARE A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, send your pedigree by email to WorldFamilies.net at mari@worldfamilies.net.  The pedigree will then be posted on the Surname Project's Patriarchs Page by Worldfamilies.net or sent to the Project’s Administrator.

Please include the following:
•       Name of project
•       Kit Number
•       Name of person posting pedigree
•       Email address to be posted with pedigree
•       Name, birthdate, birthplace, spouse of Earliest Known Ancestor
•       List each succeeding generation, using only those four items of information (or substitute another item of information if missing an item)

(If you have more information you would like to share, you may also post a more extended version of your family pedigree on the project website’s Pedigree Forum below)

If you are NOT A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, you are welcome to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum below.  We hope an interested researcher will see it and contact you to share information.

To post on this Pedigree Forum:
1.  Register and log in at www.worldfamilies.net.

My Great Grandfathers name was James Patrick MORAN. He was married to Lillian. They emigrated from Ireland in the late 1880`s - 1900`s... and settled in the Midlands...England.UK.
They had quite a few children names unknown, but one of them was also named.. James Patrick MORAN who was my mothers father, my Grandfather. Unfortunately he died early leaving behind eight children. I am hoping someone may have some information that may lead to where they originally came from in Ireland.

MORAN LEITRIM

« Reply #6 on: January 25, 2008, 06:58:07 PM »

My Grandfather was Patrick Moran born in Leitrim, Ireland in about 1876. He moved to Scotland to train as a Stonemason in his early twenties. He then appears, after changing his name to Peter, on the 1901 Middlesbrough, Yorkshire census, in a lodging house, along with Peter Conlon, also from Ireland and also a Stonemason.
He settled in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire and married my Grandmother, Ethel Dennis in December 1902, their first child Kate (Kitty) was born in 1903. My mother, Margaret, was born in 1916 and still lives in the same area along with her sister Beatrice (Betty) who was born in 1922. Their elder brother James (Jimmy) married a Dutch Canadian lady and settled in Canada where he still lives aged 95.
I know a lot about my Grandfathers life in England, although he died after an industrial accident, before I was born, but nothing at all about his roots. I don't even know who his parents or siblings were!
If anyone can help - please contact me. I am hoping to visit Ireland in the next year or so, and would like to be able to pinpoint my visit on an area where my Grandfather lived and - how wonderful it would be to meet some descendants, that would really make it a very special holiday!!  Kind Regards and good luck to all in your searches :-)
