For those of you who no longer read the DNA forum, you may be interested to learn that there is a possibility of new SNPs under P312 that could be very illuminating. These were discovered by a U152 individual and an U106-L48 one in selflessly going through P312* individuals on the 1000 Gemones Project. I gather most of the P312* there are ultimately of Iberian origin.

The first are Z195 and Z196, which appear to be between P312 and L176.2 (and of course L165 and SRY2627 below L176.2). Apparently FTDNA lists them on their Ymap browser. The next is rs1469371, which appears to be between Z195 and Z196 and M153. There are possibly also quite a few others.

It looks like we may have exciting times ahead, with the possibilty of learning a great deal more about the structure of P312.

Yes, if we could find a substantial group of these NEW SNP+ guys who are L176.2- that could be very helpful in understanding what's left of P312*. L176.2+ folks have a scattered distribution with SRY2627+ somewhat common in Iberia but also found all the way up through Scandinavia and L165+ folks apparently being Scandinavian and the L176.2* folks seeming to be English or German.   Of course, all these varieties show up in the British Isles.
