James Patty and Sarah Clanton

Can anyone confirm if James Patty born abt 1710 and died 12/10/1758 in Halifax County married Sarah Clanton.  The only evidence I have for Sarah Clanton's last name is from ancestry in their Family Data Collection and is listed as James Petty and Sarah Clanton. 

Also, does anyone know when Sarah Clanton Patty died?

No one has ever said where the Sarah 'Clanton' was found. I believe it must be that James PEtty & James PAtty may have been confused by the person who first connected Sarah 'Clanton with being married to James PAtty. In fact, the Petty who made a Will in South Carolina is the one who married a Clanton. This can be verifed at the Petty Papers on www.pettygenealogy.com web site.

I have not seen anything in the Virginia records so far to convince me of the maiden name of the Sarah who was the wife of James Patty. We simply do not know what her family name was before her marriage to him.
