We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for the Patty Family Project Patriarch page. (You don’t have to be a test participant to post your family pedigree.)

There are two ways to make your pedigree available to the project administrator for posting on the Patriarch Page:
1.  Send the pedigree by email directly to in the simplified form described below  (If you send it this way, your pedigree will only be posted on the Patriarch Page, and will not be included in the Pedigree Forum)
Be sure to include
mail address you wish to be posted with the pedigree
Kit number of the project participant whose pedigree this is
ame, birthdate, birthplace, spouse for each generation (direct  male line).

2.  Log-in to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum.  By posting your pedigree on the forum, you are making it available for the Project Administrator to post it on the Patriarch Page, along with your contact information, and kit number (or code identity number).

  1. You must be logged in to post on this forum.
How do I register to post a pedigree?
I've already registered. How do I log in?

  2.  Please include your Kit number or Code Identity number if you have been tested for the project.

  3. Please read the following instructions, then scroll down to the last posting on this forum and click "reply" in order to post your pedigree.

  4. The pedigree for a Surname Project follows your paternal line.  Please post only the information for each generation:

Full Name of Earliest Known Male Ancestor for this Surname
His birthdate
Spouse’s name

(If you are missing any piece of this information, post another bit of identifying information)

Suggestions for Posting your Pedigree on this forum:

o        Post four pieces of information for each ancestor

o        Begin with the earliest generation

o        Use standard abbreviations:  m=married, b=born, d=died, c=circa, Co=county, VA=Virginia, GA=Georgia, etc

o        Try to keep to one line per generation

o        Include only generations that have this family surname

o        Provide your name and email address as the pedigree provider

o        Provide the kit number and/or project code identity number if pedigree is for a tested participant

o        Use surname with each generation

o        Don’t use all caps

o        Don’t include anyone whose birthdate is after 1910, for privacy concerns.

o        Don’t number the generations

Scroll down to the last posting on this forum and click "reply". Post your pedigree in the box provided, and click "Post".

If you do not see a"reply" tab, it means you have lost your log in and will need to log in again in order to post. Go back to the project home page, log in again, and return to the pedigree forum. Login should hold the second time.

James Whitley Patty/b.10 Mar 1882/Knoxville, Knox Co, TN/Sadie Lee Dunn
Jimmie Whitley Patty/b.7 Jan 1913 d.15 Sep 2005/Wilson Co, NC/Marie Belle Cline

by David Patty,

My biological father was Jimmie Whitley Patty. "Jimmy" not "James" was entered on his Delayed Birth Registration, Wilson Co, NC. My mother latter married Alfred Jacocks who adopted me.
I've verified David Edward Paty as my ggrandfather thru marriage license with Sarah Loyd and FORM SA-5 for Ned O Patty b.1890/Maryville, Blount Co,TN. Ned is said by family friend to be James Whitley Patty's brother. Note that Ned was also married to Sadie Lee Dunn.
I've not been able to document James and Ned as brothers nor document James as issue of David Edward Paty. I havn't determined disposition of  David Edward and Sarah after 1890.

George William Clifton, b 1761 GA, d 11 June 1840 Clarke County GA,
m Elizabeth Dickerson/Dickinson, b1762 GA, d abt 1806, GA,
George served Rev War Delaware regiment, and applied for a
Rev War pension in 1828 from Clarke County GA; it was approved and
issued Pension # 821 on 3 Aug 1829. This leads to our assumption that George must have come to Georgia from the Delaware “branch” of the Cliftons.

George m Millie Brown 23 Feb 1807 Clarke Co. GA.
In addition to Clement Floyd Clifton, George and Elizabeth had several other children, but the names of all of them are in doubt. It also appears that George and Millie also had several children. Among the children of Elizabeth and George were:
George William Clifton Jr.
Clement Floyd Clifton, b 1 Jan 1803 Troup or Coweta Co. GA, d 21 Nov
1870, Wedowee, Randolph Co. AL; m 7 Jun 1827 to Nancy L. Jackson

Generation No. 2

George William Clifton Jr., b 12 March 1799 GA, d 28 June 1845, Cherokee
Co. AL, m Nancy Paty/Patey 17 Dec 1816 in Jasper Co. GA, Nancy b 1 Jan 1798, Lancaster Co. VA, d 7 Jan 1871, Cherokee Co. AL

Nancy was the daughter of Elijah Paty, b 25 Aug 1775, VA, d 5 Jul 1849, Cherokee
Co AL and Averilla Parrott, b abt 1772 Louisa Co. VA, d 29 Nov 1840,
Cherokee Co AL. Elijah and Averilla m abt 23 Aug 1794, Campbell
County VA. Both are bur Randle Cem, Gaylesville, Cherokee Co. AL.

Lineage- Clifton 1 02/17/2005
George and Nancy appear to have moved from Georgia to Alabama sometime after 1833-1834 before 1840. There seem to have been several families of Clifton who either moved together to Cherokee County AL or moved within a short time of each other.
George and Nancy had several children, of whom these have been identified:

Amanda Clifton, b abt 1817
Mary Ann Clifton, b abt 1819
James Marion Clifton, b 17 Sept 1821 GA, d 2 Mar 1880 Coconino Arizona
Elizabeth P. Clifton, b 1824 GA, m Thomas Young Daniel, b29 June
Burke NC, d 9 April 1885 Pope Arkansas
Nancy Caroline Clifton, b 25 Apr 1825 GA, d 23 Jul 1904, m Leonard
Addison Daniel, b 23 April 1821 Burke NC, d 9 Sept 1889, Cherokee
Co. AL
George William Clifton III, b 1830 GA
Elijah P. Clifton, b 28 Jun 1830, d Houston, Arkansas
Martha Ann Cleveland Clifton, b 10 Oct 1833 GA, d 30 May 1865, Cherokee
Co. AL, m William McKentra Randle, b 5 May 1830, d 10 Oct
1907, Hunt TX.
