I am researching the Ray-Patty connection.
My husband's dna was a match to a descendant of Elijah Patty who died in Alabama.
According to internet research, Sarah Patty had 2 children; Elijah and Nancy Patty and the father is unknown. I have Nancy's date of birth as 1767 and she married Benjamin Cunnifax and Elijah Patty was born in 1775.
Apparently there is court records in Bedford County, Virginia - Book 8 regarding the children being taken and placed in apprenticeship.
If anyone has any additional information on Sarah Patty, Elijah and Nancy, it would be greatly appreciated.
Based on the dna results and the information I have on the Ray lineage it appears that Benjamin Ray is the only person that "fits".
Also, Benjamin Ray was also an illegitimate child himself, and his father is unknown.
