I just ordered a 37-marker Y-DNA test kit for Billy Joe Thacker, a descendant of the subject patriarch. Edward is my wife's Thacker brick-wall. You may see all that I know about him at my RootsWeb World Connect database page URL below:

suspect, but can't prove with documentation, that Edward is related to the following patriarchs for testees in our project:
Nathaniel Thacker b. 1741/1742 Goochland Co., VA d. 1806 Pittsylvania Co., VA:

On 11/30/10, I also wrote a paper letter to the Thacker with test kit #52743, who closely matches the above two patriarchs, in hopes of learning more about his ancestry.
Furthermore, there are four who have tested with the Ancestry.com Thacker DNA group with Y-DNA profiles with close matches to one another. My correspondent, Glenda Potts Thacker, is the volunteer chairperson for that group and she is a registered member of this Thacker Forum.
FTDNA's Ysearch public dtabase is the best place I know of to compare Y-DNA profiles between FTDNA and Ancestry.com testees, since they use different labs and markers.
I'm excited about getting involved with this surname project.
