This is my attempt to join all the early Youngs from the Peninsula, this is still a work in progress so some of the following may not be exactly right. I am making every attempt along with Lindsay Young, also a peninsula descendant, to establish the early history of the Young family. My double Young connection is via my maternal line. The male names are still being carried on to this day.
Letitia is also a common name in my Young's. They also CARRY a "TWIN" gene.

Notes from, "The Ancient and Present State of Co. Down,"
1744, by Walter Harris."
"In Downpatrick besides these religious houses there was an ancient hospital
for lepers and one at Kilcleiff both which hospitals were by patent granted
April 1413 to John Young,  John Molyn,  and Walter Celey, with all their
lands, tenements and appurtenances being then in the King's hands caeses to
hold as long as they shall continue in the King's Possession which patent is
yet in Berninghan's Tower, Dublin."

The Regarde Bien by  Alan Milligan is one of the earliest mention, of the Youngs in the peninsula.

Robert, second son of Robert Millikin of Ballyholm, became an established merchant in Belfast and one of a number of Commissioners who attended the General Synod of Ulster in 1708 to present a supplication for the erection of the Second Presbyterian Church in Belfast. He married first, Elizabeth, daughter of William Rainey of Belfast and Whitehouse, in 1702. It is possible Robert had served his apprenticeship under William Rainey. Elizabeth evidently bore Robert children and was probably the mother of Robert and Jean mentioned in their grandfather’s will in 1712. The burial register of Rosemary Street Presbyterian Church in Belfast records the deaths of three unnamed children, a daughter buried 3rd January, 1713, a child on 9th February, 1715, and another on 24th April, 1717. After Elizabeth’s death, he married secondly, ABIGAIL, the daughter of JOHN YOUNG, another Belfast merchant.

Abigail’s mother, Mary Hutcheson, was the youngest daughter of Alexander Hutcheson, minister of Saintfield Presbyterian Church and son of George Hutcheson of Monkton in Ayrshire[9]. Alexander's eldest daughter, Beatrice, married "HUGH WALLACE" of Ballyobikin and Ravara, whilst his only son John Hutcheson was minister of Downpatrick 1690-7 and Armagh 1697-1729. Sometime between 1706-09, Abigail’s father, JOHN YOUNG, purchased the lands of Listooder and Ballydian in the parish of Kilmore, County Down, from the trustees for the estate of Sir Hans Hamilton of Monella in county Armagh. Beside Abigail, her father had another daughter, called JANE YOUNG, who married Gilbert McTeer, and five sons ALEXANDER, HUGH, CHARLES, ROBERT, and JAMES YOUNG; the latter married Jane Millikin, probably a cousin of Robert Millikin of Belfast. By a deed dated 16th October, 1728, James YOUNG of Belfast merchant and Jane YOUNG alias Milliken his wife, sold to the Rev. Samuel Hutchinson of Ballygraffan in the parish of Ballyhalbert, county of Down, the lands of Fishers Quarter lying in the barony of Ards, together with the parsonage and rectoral of the said lands of Fisher Quarter.

John Hutcheson was minister of Downpatrick 1690-7 and Armagh 1697-1729.

Rev. Archibald YOUNG . Down minister of Downpatrick 1st Presbyterian Church from Jun 1673 then fled to Scotland during the persecutions , intended to return May 1690 but didn't so he retired HCPCI p119; LM 2000 p24

KILMEGAN  Parish Church
Map Ref - OS.9J.382.371: Moneyland Townland.
This church occupies the site of multi-period, pre-Reformation churches. Records of the present parish and building,  prior to 1822, are missing owing to a lawsuit between the Rev Henry Mc Dowell Johnstone, of Ballywillwill and the Rev John Forbes Close, of Kilkeel, in connection with the right of impropriation of the parish. Many church books were sent to Dublin to be produced in evidence and never returned.
Local tradition states that a great old warrior was interred inside the masonry of the tower.
McCartan gravestones, from families formerly resident in Moneylane and Tullymore, are to be found here

This left the Grange of Doagh and Kilbride without a parish Church, Doagh was united to Kilbride and Kilbride in turn was united to Donegore around 1622 a unification which lasted for a period of 242 years until 1864. By 1853 the inconvenience of travelling back and forth to St. John’s at Donegore prompted the Reverend George Henry McDowell Johnstone to build a Church within the parish close to his own home at Ballyhamage. This was considered by many to be the fifth parish Church in the area although it was never consecrated. The bishop was angered by the fact that he was never consulted regarding the building of the Church and also that the Church shared a common wall with the Rectory, Mr Johnstons home, in which an adjoining doorway had been opened. It was however licenced for public worship, and became known as The Chappel of Ease. In 1864 the Rev. Francis Charles Young was appointed Rector of Kilbride parish and set about the building of a parish Church. St. Brides, the fifth parish Church in the area was opened and consecrated in 1868 and remains the parish Church to this day.

James YOUNG . Killinchy & Newtownards son of Alexander Young; married Mary Garrett 14 Feb 1853 in Killinchy; father of Sarah Jane b. 24 Sep 1867 & Martha Mary b. 1 Sep 1870 (regd. Newtownards)
