We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for the Dickey Family Project Patriarch page. (You don’t have to be a test participant to post your family pedigree.)

There are two ways to make your pedigree available to the project administrator for posting on the Patriarch Page:
1.  Send the pedigree by email directly to carrie@worldfamilies.net in the simplified form described below  (If you send it this way, your pedigree will only be posted on the Patriarch Page, and will not be included in the Pedigree Forum)
Be sure to include

                 E
mail address you wish to be posted with the pedigree
Kit number of the project participant whose pedigree this is
                 N
ame, birthdate, birthplace, spouse for each generation (direct  male line).

2.  Log-in to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum.  By posting your pedigree on the forum, you are making it available for the Project Administrator to post it on the Patriarch Page, along with your contact information, and kit number (or code identity number).

  1. You must be logged in to post on this forum.
How do I register to post a pedigree?
I've already registered. How do I log in?

  2.  Please include your Kit number or Code Identity number if you have been tested for the project.

  3. Please read the following instructions, then scroll down to the last posting on this forum and click "reply" in order to post your pedigree.

  4. The pedigree for a Surname Project follows your paternal line.  Please post only the information for each generation:

Full Name of Earliest Known Male Ancestor for this Surname
His birthdate
Birthplace
Spouse’s name

(If you are missing any piece of this information, post another bit of identifying information)

Suggestions for Posting your Pedigree on this forum:

o        Post four pieces of information for each ancestor

o        Begin with the earliest generation

o        Use standard abbreviations:  m=married, b=born, d=died, c=circa, Co=county, VA=Virginia, GA=Georgia, etc

o        Try to keep to one line per generation

o        Include only generations that have this family surname

o        Provide your name and email address as the pedigree provider

o        Provide the kit number and/or project code identity number if pedigree is for a tested participant

o        Use surname with each generation

o        Don’t use all caps

o        Don’t include anyone whose birthdate is after 1910, for privacy concerns.

o        Don’t number the generations

Scroll down to the last posting on this forum and click "reply". Post your pedigree in the box provided, and click "Post".

If you do not see a"reply" tab, it means you have lost your log in and will need to log in again in order to post. Go back to the project home page, log in again, and return to the pedigree forum. Login should hold the second time.

To Rick_H on #8 Dickey.
My grandfather was Jerrold Farrington Dickey. The lady you have listed as his mother is incorrect. John Franklyn Dickey married twice. He had two girls with Eva Mary. My mother couldn't remember the first daughter's name, but she said it started with a M. The second girl was Faye. Eva Mary died and John Franklyn was married to Winnette Ware (Mama thinks that she came from San Antonio, TX becasuse my grandfather Jerrold used to visit his grandmother there). This couple had a boy named John Franklyn Dickey Jr., but he died. Because John Franklyn Sr. had a watch with the initials JFD on it he and his wife Winnette Ware named my grandfather Jerrold Farrington Dickey. By the way John Franklyn Dickey,Sr., Winnette Ware Dickey, Jerrold Farrington Dickey (He did die in Gulfport as you have listed) and Edna May Conrad Dickey are all burried in the Masonic cemetary in New Orleans. My mother Edna May Dickey Grantham still lives in Gulfport, MS. She is 88yrs. old. I hope this helps, Sharon skepper@comcast.net

Hello, I have been searching for the parents of Harland M Dickey for about 3 years now. This is what I know about him:

The first record I find is when he is 10 years old in 1870 and is living on the Clark Yount Farm as a farm worker in Miami, Ohio. He remains there in 1880. In 1855 he married Laura Bell Karns, daughter of Mary Jane Wells and John Karns in Shelby Ohio. In 1900 they are living in Ohio and have have had several children including my great great grandfather, Arthur Clark Dickey and my great grand uncle Howard Russell Dickey. Uncle Howard became an Elder in the Brethren Church in Astoria IL.  Harland and Laura also had daughters,Marie (Mona), Ruth, Marie, Louvera, and Hazel May Dickey.  Harland died January 17, 1907 in Bethel Ohio at the age of 46. Laura sent a Ruth and Louvera to a "foster home" with Andrew and Dora Miller in Ohio. They returned to thier mother in a few years. I believe that Dora Miller was a decan in the brethern church.  In 1880 there is a John N Dickey living next door to Laura Karns and I don't know if he could be related to Harland or if she met Harland through this John Dickey? I know some of the cousins from Harland and Laura's other children but none of us know who Harland's parents were. I have no males in my family to do DNA testing. I am still looking for my other Dickey cousins and help in breaking down this brick wall. Family rumor is that Harland was related to Gen. George B McClullen by way of his sister but I have no idea if that is true.

Harland Dickey, born in Ohio or Il in 1960 (Memorial stone says 1955)
Married Laura Bell Karns born 1861 in Ohio, daughter of John Karns and Mary Jane Wells.
Children:
Howard Russell Dickey married Fannie Mary Foreman
Arthur Clark Dickey married Goldie Lee Taylor
Ruth Irene Dickey married ____ McClelland.
Hazel May Dickey married Glen Logan Davis
Marie Dickey married Walter W. Suhre.
Rose married Harry Ray Zimmerman.
Louvera married Orrie Eugene Beatty.

Arthur Clark Dickey and Goldie Lee Taylor lived in Van Wert and had 3 children:
Laura Mable Dickey who married Willis Bryon Herendeen.
Evelyn Dickey who married John Agler and lived in Van Wert, Ohio.
John Howard Dickey who died in infancy.

Laura Mable Dickey and Willis Herendeen had 2 daughters:
Penny Herendeen who married Steve Anderson and Herman Hoskins. Penny, my mother died in Sept. 2011.
Rosemary Herendeen Black.
