Hi everyone,
I have an ancestor, James Richmond, who got married on Sept26, 1802, a the Anglican Church of Trois-Rivières (Quebec).  He married Élizabeth Savard,  17 years old.   The record does not indicate where he comes from or the name of his parents.   On source says he is from Norfolk, MA, and was born abt 1775, but no evidence of this could be provided. Another source says he's from England. I have good indication that he died at La Baie-du-Febvre (Que) in 1810.

His son, John James Richmond married Euphrosine Boisvert in 1827. In 1837,  he settled at Green Bay and later at La Crosse, WI.  I believe he got married a second time.  One of his doughters married a Martel, another one a Marcoux (Marco).  I have a lot of info about the descendants, but nothing about the parents  or the place of birth of James Richmond.

So my question is: does anyone have info on the origin of James Richmond ?

For future reference, I have published two papers in the  La Crosse Area Genealogical Society quaterly bulletin. James is covered in Vol. 33, no.2, May 2010 issue. His son, John, is covered in Vol. 34, no.1, Feb 2011.

A distant genetic cousin was tested with Y-DNA37 and found to match 37/37 with kit 64291. Descendants of this James are therefore part of Haplogroup I-M253.  At time of writing, his parents are still unknown.

Hi everyone,

We are already in June 2015 and there is no development. This week, I will order the Family Finder test for my dad.  According to FT DNA advertising, it is good to 3-5 generations back.
My dad is part of the 5th generation donwstream James.
Time is ticking.
My dad is in his mid 80s.

The results will be meaningless if no other Richmond I-M253 is tested with Family Finder. I am asking living descendants to consider it. Especially the elders.

It is about time this 200years lost relative to be linked to his family.
