This is Pedigree for Patrick Nolan (N-52)

Patrick Francis Nolan, a farmer, was born in County Mayo, Ireland in 1821 and was the eldest son of William and Bridget Nolan. When 22 years old, he left Ireland and came to America via Quebec and located in New York in 1843. Remained there and in PA and VT fifteen years, working at the trade of founder and moulder, and in 1859 came west to Iowa and located in Stapleton Township, Chickasaw County, IA where he lived until 1882, when he moved to Fredericksburg. He married in 1851 in Fort Edward, NY, to Elizabeth Armstrong, a native of Ireland, and had ten children: Bridget, William, Catherine, James, Francis (my great grandfather), Alice, Thomas, Maria, Stephen, Peter. They were members of the Roman Catholic Church.

Pierce Noland b. 1654-1658 in Mayo, Ireland. He d. Jan. 20, 1715 in Stafford Co, VA. He married Catherine in 1680.

Pierce had a son, Philip Noland 1696-1733 in Fairfax Co, VA. He married Bridet Carroll 1694-1728.

Philip and Bridet had a son, Pearce Noland 1722-1759?. He married Sarah Awbrey 1736-1771.

Pearce and Sarah had a son, Charles Noland 1748-1813, Fairfax Co, VA

Charles had a son, Philip Noland 1770-Feb. 16,1842, Decatur Twp. Washington Co, Ohio. Philip married Elizabeth Ann Noland, and later Mercy Rathbun Engles. Philip and Elizabeth had 7 Children: Barnabus, Wlliam, Alexander, Delilia, Charles, Sarah, and Elizabeth.

Barnabus Noland 1798- Feb. 6, 1866 in Decatur Twp. Washington Co, Ohio. He married Ann Elizabeth McLand June 2, 1832. They had 4 children: Lafayette, Zachary, Sarah, and Eliza.

Lafayette Noland b.Feb.17-1833, d. Sep. 11,1902, Decatur Twp., Washington Co, Ohio. He married Sarah Jane Carpenter Feb. 17,1859. They had 11 Children: Zachary Gilbert, Malcolm, Grace, Charles, Lavina, William, Emma, Robert, John, Hugh, and George Annie.

Zachary Gilbert Noland was born June 1, 1872-Dec. 28, 1914 in Decatur Twp., Washington Co, Ohio. He married Alice Arnetta Place in 1894. They had 10 Children: Ray, Arthur, Male Infant, Male Infant, Harley Ellsworth, Marion, Adrian, Laura, Margaret, and Linne.

Harley Ellsworth Nolan (He dropped the D and our family name became NOLAN) was born Dec. 18, 1908 in Decatur Twp, Washington Co, Ohio and died-Oct. 25, 1965 in Angels Camp, CA. He married Lena McCutcheon, daughter of Monte and Chloe McCutcheon. They had 6 children: Thomas, Donald Ellis, Doris, Nora, Wayne, and Diana, who was adopted.

Donald Ellis Nolan is my paternal grandfather, born Jan. 18, 1933. He married my grandmothr, Mildred Folsom. They had 3 Children, Donald, Robert, Timothy, Donald Ellis disappeared when my father was a little boy, and we do not know if he is still living. We think he married a woman named Sharon Ivey and had two daughters, Bonnie and Roxanna, who was adopted, but we still don't know where he is or what happened to him.

Robert Lee Nolan, my father, was born in 1955 in Barberton, Ohio. He married my mother, Suzanne J. Jackson in 1982. They had 3 Children: Julie Anne (ME), Harley Ellis and Robert James.

So I can directly trace my family line about 10 generations back to Pierce Noland, who came to America from Ireland, but I would like to know more about him, and his parents, and hopefully trace our family line back even further. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me about Pierce Noland or my grandfather, Donald Ellis.

As I was scrolling through all the posts the only link I think that is possibly connected to mine is chnolands post, she has N-10 down?
Anyway where her family goes to Obed mine goes to Pearce (listed in Willam III's will) so her Obed and my Pearce/ Pierce would have been brothers. I'm not sure because as I said above I can't get a confirmation on who Pierce (b 1756) father was. I have gone to many of the websites that have been posted, my line of the Nolands seems to just drop off the world with Pierce (b 1756). The family settled down in Coshocton, OH and helped to settle the town and had many write up's etc.... Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

This entry is a continuation of the research of N-16, who posted the above entry.

E-mail to Nolan Admin on 6 Jan 2011

"My line of Nolans was centered in Wilson County TN for a long time.  About a year ago I discovered a branch of Nolens in Indiana who had left Wilson County and migrated north into Indiana.  The discovery allowed me to solve some of the problems I was having with the Nolans in Wilson County.

First my GGF is Robert Author Nolan b 1841 Wilson TN d 1902 Marion FL
His siblings were Jame T b 1842 and Temperance 1833 and Lydia 1836.  Their father James D. Nolin died in Wilson in 1844 along with his wife Arabella ? Must have been some disease.  Wills exist that name the family.  Their grandmother Mary (Fuller) Nolin/Nowlin then raised the two young boys and sisters. Temperance married a Rutledge and had three children.  Mary and her husband David Nowlin 1790-1830 had 21 children so I have read, but I know of only of 5. James D 1810-1844; Daniel 1813-1856 Indiana; David Bruce 1822-1858 Indiana; William 1823-1862 Wilson TN; Pacience C. 1833 Wilson TN.  Note three stayed in Tennessee and two went to Indiana.  I am in the process of running down William's war record.  He was recorded as deaf and dumb, but had land a wife and children. He died suddenly in 1862 and is possibly a Confederate or Union soldier. I have found Williams in both Armies that fit the area but have not found one who died in 1862.

Lebanon has wills for James, Mary and transactions of almost all.  What Wilson County does not have is burial sites for any Nolen/Nolin/Nowlin.  My best guess of that is they lie under the lake the Corps of Engineers built on the northern county line. Have asked the county and Corps for data on that.  Not good potential.

Back to my line, David's father was Paskin Nowlin b1765 Virginia d abt 1830 in Wilson county where he is recorded as living or in North Carolina where he migrated from.  Three of his children were born in NC or SC.  A Nolen family history has him in Lebanon TN, Wilson County.

A few years back you recommended that I follow a James Nolen born in James River Virginia in 1756.  This James and his father migrated to SC and James fought in the Revolution War where he sat out most in prison in St Augustine, FL.  After being in the War of 1812 that James migrated to Western TN raised a family and applied for a pension. I was unable to link to this James because of the 100+ miles from Wilson County to west TN.  I even contemplated a guy with two families, but could not find the link.

The Indiana Nolen History with David and Paskin is fairly good.  Funny thing is they have been using my data for years and I had not picked up on it until I started doing heavy work on William.  We now e-mail often. This is the second line of Nolan/Nolens that I have found.  One is located in Florida and was part of Robert Arthur's children that had got lost in the 1930's.  The Indiana Nolen's were a great and unexpected find.  Both are large Nolan/Nolen families.

I have tried to find Paskin in Virginia to no avail. My best guess is that he is one of the lost children of James Nowlin II who had a large number of children of whom only 4 or 5 are known."
