Anybody here going for the upgrade to 111 markers?

Is it worth it, you think?

I am considering it, as there are already a number of my close matches who have ordered it, mostly Beatties.

Good question. Rich. I was wondering the same thing but will probably defer a decision until I have the results of my SNP L555/561 tests.

I ordered. There has been a large number of L21 people order this so I figure we can make some comparisons to see if we find something that helps separate clusters/varieties.

Ken Nordtvedt has recommended that some of the asterisk I Hg folks do this as some of the markers look positive as discriminators.

I may go for the mtDNA side before I expand to 111 markers. I've also thought about ordering the Deep Clade thingy, but I don't figure I'll be positive for any of that.

I know I am U5, and the admin of the U5 Project tells me I am certainly U5a2, but I would like to have the complete word on that. I know the FGS will give me all I need on mtDNA.

I have zero matches at 67.  I can't see how 111 would benefit me.

Though it would be interesting comparing other R-L159.2+ sequences at that level. I may do it in the near future.

Hey Mike,

It may ultimately be fruitful to upgrade, especially if there are some off-modal values L159ers share. This might give us some insight into your branch of the clan.

I checked the night before and first thing April 16th and there were around 27 new L21's associated with the L21-WTY that have ordered the new Test: Y-Refine67to111 (Introductory).

There were around five others that had completed results.

That will be a nice start.

CotswoldsMan is keeping a spreadsheet showing the initial results for markers 68-111 for L21s

Is anyone keeping track of P312* who have ordered the upgrade?

I upgraded my father-in-law to see if it will help predict if any of the new SNPs should be ordered to help him remove the double-star ( L21**).

I have ordered the upgrade after several hours figuring out that FTDNA was offering about 15 new DYS that were not available previously on their advanced order page.  What I do not understand is why FTDNA is not posting to the public projects those DYS previously ordered from their advanced order page.  In the mean while they have removed my previous advanced DYS (> 67DYS) from my home page results.
