R-L2 has more downstream SNPs

I was confirmed L196+ in September 2009 by the FTDNA WTY testing - the first found with this SNP.  I then tested two of the most genetically distant men from me in my Barton Lineage I group - and they are both also L196+.  FTDNA advises that we are still the only 3 at this point who are L196+.

L196 is one of 4 SNPs offered by FTDNA that are downstream of L2:

L20
L135
L196
L209

If anyone tests positive for L196, please let me know.

I will watch for that in the R-P312 and Subclades Project, and I will let you know if I find any L196+ results.

I just went back through the "Received Lab Results" section of the R-P312 and Subclades Project and hunted down all the L196 results (there were only a few). Thus far, Terry, yours is the only positive I could find, but there haven't been very many L196 tests yet, at least not from the R-P312 and Subclades Project.

I'll keep my eyes open for any new ones that come in.

Terry - what is the genetic distance with your L196 matches?  I'm wondering if you can make an estimate of the age of L196.  I tested L2+  L196-  L20- L209-

Also Z49, Z367 and Z384 are downstream of R-L2 but upstream of L-20 and L-196.  I have not tested for Z49, Z367 and Z384 yet but I will at some date soon!
