I hope to hear any news about R-L159.2

Has any thought been given as to when R-L159.2 came to be?

I'm not sure as to when L159.2 came to be, but the jury is still out as to whether its presence in both Ireland and Great Britain is due to migration into Ireland or the other way around.

I guess we have to consider the different haplo-types involved, and come up with some kind of time frame.

I agree. But the ones testing positive for L159.2 in Great Britain seem to cluster around the Scottish Borders area, yet we do have some Highlander surnames L159.2+.

I think we need to look harder at the Murphys.
Is your Leinster Model found in the Murphy Y-results?

Actually, yes there are a number of Murphys in the Leinster II category that match key markers: 14-30 DYS389i and ii, 18 at DYS448 and high CDYa and b values.

As an aside, someone posted a message from Pat Tagert to Dennis Wright of the Irish Type III Project:

"Congratulations, Dennis. It appears that Irish Type III has found
it's identity. Your Irish Type III group has been a model of
cooperative effort in the Walk Through the Y project, & represents
the first success for the R-L21* Walk Through the Y. Irish Type III
will take it's place in the phylogenetic tree now, & FTDNA can add
another SNP to it's list of subclade SNP tests."

It's a wonder why Pat failed to mention anything about L159.2. Sounds like a swift kick in the groin.

I'd email him and point out his oversight, the importants of L159.2 is hard to deny

I haven't heard any FTDNA feed back about my L159+.

I just got a new FTDNA kit in the mail. They need some new samples.

I have emailed all my FTDNA 25 marker matches, letting them know I tested possitive for R-L159.2

I'm hoping more will test. One interesting 23/25 is a O'Higgins.

He is a member O'Higgins DNA programme. His earliest known ancestor is from  Co. Meath.

Oral tradition traces his roots to Sligo before 1720 which is where the O'Conor Royal family come from.

Do you think O'Higgins is related to O'Connor?

Also, I setup an R1b-L159.2 project on FTDNA. I don't know if you joined yet, but I am wondering if you would like to be an admin or co-admin. I wanted to get the project set-up, but with school and all I'm not sure I can run it all myself!

Let me know.
