Hi Shirl,
That second link is only highlighted in part, so just cut and past that whole URL
http://awtc.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=*v133t0826&id=I0769
or try this Tiny URL
http://tinyurl.com/yrqc73It is too bad you do not have a living male KRUSE interested in the Y-DNA
study. Is it because of cost or they are fearful of something happening? As
more KRUSE are tested it will really help to expand everyones family tree.
Otherwise, a professional genealogist, may be the way to go, however look
at spending a few thousand dollars in the long run, while Y-DNA testing is
less expensive in comparison.
There is another Schleswig-Holstein KRUSE family listed on the Patriarch Page,
and there are likley many more that have a paper trail into Schleswig-Holstein.
The Y-DNA test could link you with one of those, or show you the correct KRUSE
lineage to persue. Plus if you match with a 12 marker test with me, that means
there is a common KRUSE ancestor out there.
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/k/kruse/pats.htmlAncestry.com probably will not be able to help, because you already know the
KRUSE into Schleswig-Holstein. The next step would be to have someone help
you find the church records, however without a town name it is virtually
impossible to find the appropriate church records. This is where a professional
genealogist would be needed, or a Y-DNA study to help augment that search.
I cannot remember if you found your ship, if from the Hamburg port the town
name will be listed, if from Bremen the town name may be found in the NY
arrivals, but usually it only gives the country. Another way would be to find
the "Intent for Naturalization" paper. I have heard this can give the town name,
also if you find the marriage entry of any German born in your local U.S. Church
archive church books, this normally shows the town of birth of both bride and
groom. I think the only way Ancestry.com can help you out is if someone
recognizes your Kruse and has the paper trail. This could come next year or
never, but many people do not get that lucky. Get back to me at my personal
email if you want to discuss these options. I have many ways to help find the
ship.
