Celtic Festivals

I thought I would start a thread on this subject since there is a Celtic festival going on next weekend about 20-30 minutes' drive down the road from where I live, and I plan to be there with my little redheaded daughter (I think the wife has to work).

I went to a few Celtic/Scottish festivals some years back (before I knew anything about genetic genealogy) and thoroughly enjoyed them, but it's been awhile since I have been to one.

My y-dna results may give me a new perspective on this festival.

I have been attending the regional Scottish  Festival for the last two years. And this year my wife discovered more about her Dad's Scot/Irish Clan heritage. My recently discovered information concerning my SNPs from the 22 autosomes and close 67/GD9 Scottish match, was about a week to late. Next year will be even more interesting to say the least.

Can you give me a kit number or something? That's a huge project.

You should ask him to create a YSearch entry. That would make looking at the haplotypes a lot easier.

What conclusions are you coming to as a result of finding this guy?

I still think 9 away isn't all that close. I know of people closer than that who aren't even in the same subclade. If that can happen to them, then convergence can certainly put a German and a Scot who do belong to the same subclade within 9 of each other.

Convergence is possible but not since I have discovered that my Genome is English/Scottish and not paterenal German, only my maternal is German with pushes me into the north side of the island away from Germany

We can discuss offline though. I believe my unusual haplotype with the GD 9 haveing five fast, 3 medium (The three fasted) and one upward slow mutation at 393 is not a convergence.

I wouldn't draw too many conclusions about your y-dna from an autosomal test. Autosomes recombine and are subject to dominant/recessive interactions. We have a few African-Americans in the R-L21 Plus Project. I would venture to guess that physically they appear to be African and that autosomally they may be mostly African, but their y-dna tells a somewhat different tale.

The presence of a huge reference pool of British test subjects could skew the autosomal results, and it's not like no Germans ever went to England.

I had him in my spreadsheet from the Prince Island Project....   I don't remember now, perhaps you were the one who gave me the lead.    I don't have any MDKA ancestor location information.  Does he know it is Scotland since he is in the Scottish project?  What's his MDKA's origin location?   Thanks.

Yes, I did send you the info and he was suppose to join the R-L21 project. He has traced his Ross ancestor going back to around 1760 in Sutherland in the Highlands of Scotland and now lives in Glasgow area. He has the same 1211 group markers (449=32).
