Where in the World is Paul Garrison?
This page will be dedicated to posting any and all records for any Paul Garrison, or any other versions of that given name.
A Paul Garrison may be a key link between the Garrisons of early Rowan Co., NC, and some Garrisons later in Missouri, as well as other states.

Augusta County, Virginia Court Records Order Book No. I Page 23 (131) November 19, 1746 Road Ordered from the Ridge above Tobias Bright’s that parts the waters of New River from the branches of Roan Oak to the lower ford of Catabo Creek. Tobias Bright, overseer. W, English and two sons, Thos English and son, Jacob Brown, George Bright, Benj. Oyle, Paul Garrison, Elisha Isaac, John Donahu, Philip Smith, Mathew English and the rest of the tithables as nominated by George Robinson and James Montgomery.
Augusta County, Virginia Court Records Deed Book No. 11 Page 401 (340) 8 March, 1763. Paul ( ) Garrison of Roan County, North Carolina, to John Donilly, (pounds sterling)20, 68 acres, said Garrison’s part of 137 acres patented to John Donelly, Sr., and Paul Garrison, 29th May 1760, on the waters of Catawbo at a place called the Knob; corner land of John Donilly, Sr.
From Marti Garrison Zinn: The following quoted record was published in the "South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Magazine, V8, p.81-82, and XIV, p 103-04":
"From the Order Book of John Faucheraud Grimke, August 1778-May 1780, held at the Charleston Historical Society, 100 Meeting St., Charleston, SC. Paul Garrison of the 3rd Regiment, found guilty of Desertion Only & Sentenced to Receive 50 lashes with switches, the Court in Consideration of his having been punished in the 3rd Regiment for Desertion & of theManner of Captain Jarey's inlisting (sic), recommended him to Mercy. The General approves the sentence & for the Reasons which induced the Court to recommend him to Mercy. He remits the Punishment."
Same record as above, quoted from the book, "Summer Soldiers, A Survey & Index of Revolutionary Courts-Martial," by James C. Neagles. Chapter 6 "Paul Garrison. Second Regiment. Desertion, encouraging soldiers to desert and enlist in another regiment; guilty only of desertion--fifty lases with switches--remitted because he had already been punished in the Third Regiment."

From Marti Garrison Zinn: A copy of a will that Paul Garrison and Margaret Garrison signed in Camden District, SC, March 16, 1784. It is in Camden District, SC, Wills and Administration 1781-1796 abstracted by Brent H. Holcomb, GRJ, and Elmer O. Parker, copyright 1978 by the Rev. Silas Emett Lucas, JR. This is on page 33. It Reads: "HAWTHORN, JOHN SENR Apr. 30 Pck.1086 .....Will of John Hawthorn Senr of South Carolina in Craven County, 11th Sept. 1786...to wife ELIZABETH, house and plantation I now live on during her life and one cow to my grandson JOHN HAWTHORN at her death...to my duaghter MARGARET JOHNSTON, b (note this is not the correct mark but it looks close to it and I don't know what it is! Marti) 2 SC money...to son ADAM HAWTHORNE, b 2 SC money ....to daughter MARY FORBES, b 2 SC money..to sons JOSEPH & BENJAMIN HAWTHORNE 300 A...to daughter ELIZABETH HAWTHORNE, 100 A OF LAND bought from JAMES OGILVIE...3 sons JAMES, JOHN , ROBERT HAWTHORNE... (not dated and not wit) Prov. by ROBERT BRYNAM & wit. were JOSHUA EDWARDS, PAUL GARRISON, & MARGARET GARRISON., 16 Mar 1784. Dedimus to JOHN BUCHANAN Esq to admr. Exr's oath, 10 Apr 1784 Dedimus to PHILIP PEARSON to prove will, 16 Mar 1784. Inventory made 30 Apr 1784. Also "An Accompt of Receipts for the British" & 1guinea pd. to ADAM HAWTHORN. Will proved by JOSHUA EDWARDS SENR & MARGARET HART, 29Mar 1784. Warrant of appraisement to: JOHN CAMERON, THOMAS CAMERON, WM. CRAIG, JAMES CAMERON & JOHN LONG JUNR., 10 Apr 1784.
