We just added a Polish member, Jakobek, YSearch 93HBC, to the R-P312 and Subclades Project. His ancestor came from Lezajsk in southeastern Poland, fairly close to the Ukrainian border.

He is on the R-P312* Map now, and I also added Majdak, YSearch ZCFZN, to the map a bit to the west of Jakobek in Miedzybrodzie Bialskie, near the Slovak border. Majdak hasn't joined the project, but I have communicated with him by email and know his results (R-P312*).

We already had a couple of R-P312* placemarks in Poland, but they are both Germans. These are the first with honest-to-goodness Polish surnames. I think there are probably more out there; we just don't know about them yet.

That guy is really close to me on 12 markers. He even has 14 at DYS393.

Any possibility that Jakobek could be Ashkenazi?

It's possible. I haven't asked the lady responsible. That occurred to me, too, given the apparent root name "Jakob" in the surname. He doesn't belong to any of the Jewish dna projects to which the other Ashkenazi guys belong.

Another Polish R-P312*: Wyrwas, YSearch ENMN2, ancestor from Dabrowa, Poland. He's on the R-P312* Map.

Wyrwas appears to belong to the "R1b North-South Cluster".

Add yet another Polish R-P312* to the map: Windak, whose ancestor came from Wieliczka, southeast of Krakow.
