From the above sale it looks like the Young's and Drysdale's have always had strong ties with the sea. Robert Drysdale was the master of the ship to bring it back from the Isle of Man. Capt. David Young's daughter and Capt. Robert Drysdale's son married. There also seems to be a strong tie with the Thompson family as David's brother Andrew married Agnes Thompson.
The Bailies and Cathcarts also appear in connection with the Young's.

The Ards Railway - Open Letter from Father Nolan
I have a letter from Mr. David Young, fisherman, Portavogie, who writes in the name of all the fishermen of that village - “We, the fishermen of Portavogie. beg respectfully that you would interest yourself in our behalf, and bring our case before the public in the columns of the Press...We have need of a railway. There are about eighty boats belonging to Portavogie, with four or five men in each boat, totally depending on the fishing industry. We must lift our nets from two to three hours earlier than other fishermen, because if we have not landed our fish before six o’clock in the morning the fish are of no good to us. The horses cannot have them in the market in time, so we have not sufficient time to fish on that account. There are about 1,200 of a population depending on the fishing industry in and about Portavogie, and there are not twelve people in the district opposed to the railway scheme. So, dear sir, you might be so kind as to quote a few lines for us in the Press to let the public know that we want a railway line in Portavogie.” [THANKS MARY]
