1863.   The burying place of John Rankin, M.D. and family.

John Rankin M.D. died 16th July 1862 aged 84yrs.

His son John Rankin M.D. 27th Nov. 1862 aged 54 yrs.

His wife Hannah BOYD died 8th Feb. 1864 aged 76 yrs.

His son William died 25th feb. 1872 aged 65 yrs.

His son Francis died 11th Nov. 1876 aged 62 yrs.

His son Samuel M.D. died 21st June 1881 aged 71 yrs.

His son Alexander died 15th Jan. 1891 aged 73 yrs.

His daughter Mary Ann died 10th Sept. 1893 aged 80 yrs.

His son James died 7th Sept. 1909 aged 79 yrs.

His daughter Lydia died 16th April 1910 aged 86 yrs.

Eliza daughter of James Rankin, died 18th Oct. 1873 aged 2 1/2 yrs

Jane, wife of James Rankin died 24th June 1907 aged 64 yrs.

Elizabeth M., daughter of William Rankin died 26th Oct. 1913 aged 64 yrs.

James Richard Rankin, J.P., son of James Rankin, born 28th May 1868, died 13th October 1940.

Also his wife Agnes MCKELVEY who died 6th April 1860 aged 54 yrs.
Also their son Henry Miller who died 9th April 1864 aged 31 yrs.**
Also Robert Miller who died 15th Jan. 1797 aged 2 yrs and 9 mths.
Also Mary PARK Miller who died 7th Feb. 1798 aged 14 mths.

These Rankin's lived in ROCKLANDS, Fishquarter, Kircubbin. The house is still standing and has been greatly extended by the new owners.

The house was owned in 1728 by James Young, Belfast merchant, and his wife Jane nee Millikin.

By a deed dated 16th October, 1728 they sold it to Rev. Samuel Hutcheson of Ballygrafan in the parish of  Ballyhalbert, County of Down. the lands of Fish Quarter lying in the barony of Ards, together with the parsonage and rectoral of the said lands of Fisher Quarter.
