this seems to be m222 niall of the nine hostages"signature".We are from ulster and show in strabane

tyrone. We match the names oneill, odonnel macdonald, kelly and cox.Hugh oneill 1696-1790(wife ann cox) is

a real close match to me by dna.Anyone know how that alligns to the "oneill mor"lineages??Thanks. Our

name is nelson and someone told me the oneills took this name on the anglization of

names??oneill, macneill and nelson seem to be variations of the same name.We also match the names quillan and egan.

I don't know that people are calling M222 the Niall line.

Perhaps this Niall signature is just in str's ?

From someone from the 4th century how many mutational changes can we expect with 67 str's.

My brother just received his DNA test results and we are Y-DNA haplogroup R-M269 which has also been categorized as a descendant of Niall of the Nine Hostages.  We are Monaghans.  Are there any other Monaghans out there that share this haplogroup?

M269 is an ancestral  marker of European and Middle Eastern  R1b. 90% of Irish men are R1b-M269 and 70% are L21.
