Mercer Co Kentucky Thompsons

I am searching for the parents of John Thompson b1760. He enlisted in the Virginia State Troops in 1776 in Augusta Co Va and then into the Contential Army until his discharge in N C in 1781.
First paper work I have on him is his ARW pension papers in 1819 in Mercer Ky. His last three children were born in N C but uncertain about the other four. His last child was born in 1804.
He had one son Elijah born c1798 but not sure where. John and all his children moved from Mercer except Elijah. He married Deana Dean and died there in 1849 after having a large family with probably four sons.
My hopes are to either find a male from Elijas line or someone from one of Johns brothers.
Anyone have anything in their files that might help in the search,
