John Fisher b. 1831 or 1836 Switzerland.
I first find John Fisher and wife Barbara in the 1880 Berks County, PA census.  Both state that they were born in Switzerland, some of the children were born in Switzerland or Germany or the US.  But I think that it is kind of mixed up or they moved back and from from Switzerland and Germany before arriving here in the US.  I also think that they might be confused as to when they arrived.  The 1900 census they state that they arrived separately with John Fisher arriving in 1872 and wife in 1873.  But the dates never worked nicely with the other information that I have found over the years.

I think that John Fisher arrived in 1869 and wife Barbara with children arrived 31 May 1870. I think that I have found them in the 1870 census [1870 US Population Census, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia County, Philadelphia Ward 19, dist 57, M593-1404, pg. 130a, 9 Jul 1870, Line 27, Dw# 1680, Fm# 2769].

I find Barbara Fisher and children arriving in New York 31 May 1870 and I checked the Ship Manifast from were they left port and could not find them.  I actually went through the entire Manifasts from both ports and believe that there is a page missing from the departing port manifests.  The Departing port manifest is important for it would list their last residence in Switzerland.

In Barbara Fisher's Obit in 1917 it says that she has a brother and sister surviving her in Philadelphia, PA.  I wish that I could find them.


I have also lost Augustine Fisher's brother who moved to Detroit, Wayne County, MI.  Joseph kept the spelling of FISCHER.  I would like to have contact with some of his descendants.
Joseph Fischer b. 30 April 1874, Philadelphia, PA died after 1931.  Joseph Fischer married married Catherine Luther 1901, Cambrai County, PA.
