Over the course of the last several years, Family Tree DNA solidified our leadership as the primary genetic genealogy service worldwide. As a result, the size of our database is unmatched and has achieved critical mass, even allowing adoptees or descendants of adoptees to find their biological paternal lines, including the surname of the original family. In fact, more that 30% of the people who have come to us in search of their original paternal line have already succeeded in their endeavor. Note that genetic matches allow people to find their biological lines rather than a specific individual.
We have made tremendous progress, but we feel that we can do more. If you have tested 12 or 25 markers, an upgrade to 37 or more markers could provide the relevant match that someone has been waiting for. It may also give you the match that you have been waiting for.
Family Tree DNA wants to help and be part of this effort. We have decided that from June 20th to June 30th, we will reduce all our Y-DNA upgrade prices, and on average the reduced prices will be about 25% lower than the standard upgrade price.
