I'm a newbie and still pretty confused. My brother's Y37 test results show matches to only 8 people with the Mitchell surname. All of them match on 12 markers at a genetic distance of 1, and the 8 Mitchells are the only matches at that level. I do not see a clear connection for any of these 8 to each other. No other surnames match at that level.
There are more than 600 exact matches at the 12 marker level, but no Mitchells, and there are several matches at the 25 and 37 marker level, but again no Mitchells.
Can anyone offer an idea of what this means? I realize the match to the 8 Mitchells on 12 markers at a genetic distance of 1 is not a strong one, but why do only Mitchells match at this level, and why do they appear no where else?
