Dear Fellow Corbett/Corbitt DNA researchers,
As volunteer co-administrators of the Corbett/Corbitt DNA research project we (Dean Corbitt and Jeri Corbitt) would like thank you for being a part of the project. The program is a joint effort between World Families Network and Family Tree DNA. The Corbitt section is a very small portion but we are hopeful that our family information will make a nice contribution to the overall effort.
This communique is to update you on the progress, and encourage you to become more involved. If you haven't visited our website recently, we hope you will take a few minutes to look around it and see what we have accomplished so far.
Below are the web pages with pertinent Corbett/Corbitt information. It might be helpful to bookmark them for easy referral.

This is the place to post your pedigree if you haven't already. We will take it from here and post it on the Patriarch's page.
We hope that if you tested with the 12-marker test, you will upgrade to at least the 25-marker test. Our understanding is that the 12-marker test is most useful to determine your haplogroup. MANY men with different surnames and with no known common ancestor will perfectly match at the 12-marker level.
To better understand this, go to your personal page. You received a link to it in an e-mail from familytreedna.com when you were sent your results. Click on "Y-DNA Matches." Read the "Understanding..." links. There is a wealth of information there that Family Tree DNA explains far better than we can. In essence, the closer the match with the higher number of markers tested, the more likely you are to be more closely related.
Check our pages often as we work to make the Corbett/Corbitt DNA study the best one on the web! And remember to encourage fellow Corbetts/Corbitts to be tested! The larger our group the more matches we'll have. It is so exciting to be a part of this group and to be working on linking our families together!
We will be contacting you periodically with more updates. If you have questions, comments, or helpful information to share with the group please let us know.
