My grandmother, Carmen Galban, is from Cuba.  Her people came from the Canary Islands.  The story is that two brothers, possibly twins, fueded.  One left the Canaries, changed the spelling of his name ro Galban, and moved to Cuba.  The other stayed on the Canaries. 

Does this history ring a bell with any other Galban/Galvan out there?
