The "Nolan families of the World" website (http://nolanfamilies.org) is a personal/not-for-profit website focusing on documenting early "family stories " (immigration, trials, tribulations, adventures, etc.) for known first families from around the world.

The emphasis of the website is on identifying family "treetops" rather than researching individual pedigrees i.e. lines of descent. The information found at the website is meant to facilitate Nolan family research by providing information on very early Nolan family history and details on known early families which settled in various places in Ireland and around the world.

In the main part of the website (http://nolanfamilies.org) , family stories are organized by geographical area and sorted by earliest year of known presence. There are also links to "Submit a family Story!"  or to "Search [through] family Stories!".

In the forums section (http://nolanfamilies.org/forums), tidbits of information of potential interest to Nolan family researchers everywhere can be submitted.

In the photos section of the website, (http://nolanfamilies.org/photos), pictures related to Nolan family research or of general interest can be posted.

Given that the current website, i.e. "NolanFamilies.org", evolved from an earlier "Nolan Clan in Canada" website (started in 1997), there is a disproportinate number of early family stories for Canada compared to the number for other parts of the world.  However, the infrastucture to receive stories for all parts of the world is in place and it is hoped that, over time, the number of stories for these areas will be more representative of the number of Nolan families who settled in those areas.

Those with an interest in their Nolan cultural heritage may also want to check out the information on the Nolan Clan which I also host at my website. The Nolan Clan, based in Ireland, is a not-for-profit cultural organization relying upon its membership for organizing activities, such as clan gatherings every two years, and publishing a newsletter, at least once a year. If interested, here is a direct link to the information: http://nolanfamilies.org/index.php?topic=clan. I am also the current Newsletter editor for the Clan and would be pleased to answer any further questions you might have regarding the Clan.
