Hi
I just received my mtDNA results from Family Tree DNA..I am a relatively rare Haplgroup which is J2.
My gggrandmother Margaret Lynch is in RI by 1860.Dies Burlington County NJ c.1904
I have 4 High Res. matches..all from UK c. 1840.
Any thoughts?
I checked Lynch group.I actually? have another Lynch ancestor also.

Hello Kathy,

I just got my mtDNAplus results back this week. Saw this posting as I was looking for others in the J2 haplogroup. I have a Margaret Lynch in my group, born in 1849 to Sarah Arthur and Adam Gregory Lynch. My surname for the DNA group was Arthur. Sarah was the daughter of William (Arter) Arthurs and Mary "Polly" Davidson Friend.  I know nothing of Sarah's life with Adam or where they ended up, but maybe another Arthur researcher does.

Has anyone who has done the females only DNA had any success in tracing their family history? We have no male heirs from my mother's family. Her father had two daughters, his brother had no children at all, and his sister had a boy and a girl and both are dead.

Is there a way (I had the mtDNAplus done) to scrutinize further to see if a person has black heritage or jewish?
