We invite you to submit your "Pedigree" for this Surname.   Our Surname Project is primarily interested in your Paternal line, as surnames are passed down from father to son, just as the yDNA is passed down.

If you ARE A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, send your pedigree by email to WorldFamilies.net at mari@worldfamilies.net.  The pedigree will then be posted on the Surname Project's Patriarchs Page by Worldfamilies.net or sent to the Project’s Administrator.

Please include the following:  (If you have more information you would like to share, you may also post a more extended version of your family pedigree on the project website’s Pedigree Forum below)
•       Name of project
•       Kit Number
•       Name of person posting pedigree
•       Email address to be posted with pedigree
•       Name, birthdate, birthplace, spouse of Earliest Known Ancestor
•       List each succeeding generation, using only those four items of information (or substitute another item of information if missing an item)

If you are NOT A MEMBER of this Surname Project at Family Tree DNA, you are welcome to post your pedigree on the Pedigree Forum below.  We hope an interested researcher will see it and contact you to share information.

Hi John!

I saw your post at the genforum Campion forum.? Sadly, I don't think I can participate in this project, but I'm interested and want to offer my pedigree in case it's of any eventual use.

My father's mother was a Campion, who emigrated to Canada with her husband in the 1920s.? So her descendants in Canada are not eligible, because they are not male-line.

We are in touch with one family in England, descended from my grandmother's brother -- but through his daughter, so also not male-line. And I've met someone collaterally related to my gr-grandfather's (probably not) sister Julia Campion -- but again, not male-line.

So our DNA isn't any use to you, but maybe the names will be!? My Campions are from Northamptonshire, England, and go like this (some dates approximate, as they are taken from census databases):

William Campion b. 1787 in Cold Ashby, married Mary Shield 1811

children:
Elizabeth 1821
John 1821
Hannah 1823
Isaic 1831
Burdett 1836
Thomas 1840
Hannah 1796

Isaac Campion b. 1831 in Cold Ashby, m. Dorcas Kenney 1851

children:
Alfred James 1853
Frederick Isaac 1859
George William 1855
(Julia Matilda Kenny, b. 1858, later known as Julia Campion, was born to Dorcas before marriage, and I have not yet checked whether Isaac Campion was registered as her father)

An oddity is that in 1883, George married the much older Martha (Arthur) Campion, widow of Joseph Campion (who may have been a brother or cousin of Isaac.)

Frederick Isaac Campion b. 1859 in Cold Ashby,? m. Eliza Jane Carter

children:
Nellie 1882
Beatrice 1888
Ada 1890
Frederick 1892
Lily (Lillian) 1896

Lily (Lillian) Campion, born 1896 in Wellingborough, died 1994 in Canada (emigrated to Canada c1923)

children:
Douglas (my father, died 2003) 1930
Betty (deceased)
David (deceased)
living daughter, the eldest child

If I do learn that there are living male-line descendants of Lily's brother Frederick -- or I make contact with any other male-line descendants of Isaac or of his ancestors or siblings -- I will inform them of the project.

Good luck, and if my pedigree is of any use for the project, please let me know if I can provide any more info!

Kathryn
